With Volume 2 of the SENTINELS series coming out this fall (hopefully), Atlantis Studios' Jim Jimenez is doing cover art for both volumes plus either a third original book or a collected volume of the first two. Here's one of them, inked, and two others in penciled layout form. It being no secret that the Sentinels are my own little Avengers world to play in, I asked him to base the layout around three classic Avengers covers. See if you can figure out which cover inspired which, um, cover. The Sentinels squaring off vs. most of their foes from book 1: www.plexico.net/sentinels/atlantis1_ink.jpgBrachis and Mondrian aboard the alien space station, fleeing the monsters: www.plexico.net/sentinels/atlantis2_pencil.jpgThe Warlord triumphant! www.plexico.net/sentinels/atlantis3_pencil.jpgI'm very happy with these... Pulsar looks so freakin' cute I just can't stand it. (That's the young Asian heroine in the gold mesh suit.) I'll post the finished color art when it's all done, if anyone's interested.

The review sounds very promising. Does the book come in the UK ? As for the covers, the third is from Ultron Unlimited (the final issue I think), when our favorite killing machine stands triumphant over the Avengers' dead bodies. I'm sure I've seen the first one as well around, it's a group vs group cover. Just can't recall which one exactly. The second one I don't recognize though

I'm sure Lulu.com will ship overseas. Adrian said before that they shipped something to him in Australia. You're right about #3, and you have the right idea for #1. #2 is gonna prove tricky, because it only uses a few elements from a cover. But it's from Shooter's first run. Thanks for checking it out! I'll post the final, color covers when they're done. Reading a little about Jim online, at least a while back, he was in a band in the Philippines, and worked on his art between sets. Cool!

I'm editing this now to replace the old links to the old covers with the general address of WhiteRocketBooks, where you can see all three current covers and more, including Mitch Foust's amazing cover painting for the hardcover omnibus: www.whiterocketbooks.comJust click on the SENTINELS icon...

The pictures look great in colors !
But I still can't recognize the 2nd one, and I had a look through the Avengers' covers in the site once more. The only one that looks a bit similiar to me is one just before the Korvac storyline, when the Avengers storm in to find Gyrich in the mansion.

Yeah, the second one is not an exact match for anything, really. But you still only missed it by one issue! The cover I suggested to the artist was #167-- Thor and the Vision running toward the "camera," with a big space station background behind them. Thanks for checking them out, Shiryu! I will have copies at DragonCon (and maybe Trinoc-Con, if they arrive soon) if anyone is there. They'll be one of the prizes in Jeopardy, for example.
