Thank ya, guys, thank ya--!
It was a fine birthday, indeed. Hectic & exhausting, sure (getting a christmas tree from a farm, setting up, decorating, etc, etc)-- but quite happy. No comics-related gifts-- but I do know an eleventh-hour attempt was made-- just no expertise on the parts of the thoughtful folks making the attempt, bless 'em.
Now the NEXT day (yesterday) was a different story---
--- which I'll briefly touch on in the AVENGERS PRIME thread, I think. . .

HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!
I see that it is the birthday of the World-Famous Doctor Bong Quadruplets today! My goodness, I can certainly imagine the New Year's resolution growled out by an exhausted and EXTREMELY sore Ma Bong, Lo, those many decades ago ("Never again, Pa Bong! NEVER AGAIN!!"), as she lay there, surrounded by the hungry pealing of her newborn little dingalings, wondering how they were going to afford so much Brasso on their meagre income. . .
It's curious, though--- you never, ever see more than one of them here on the board at any one time. Hmmmmm-- I smell a mystery. . .

Thanks Dlw66, My day was crazy but everything went okay. Saving some money to buy Marvel vs Capcom 3. So, if 70 is the new 50. . . And 50 is the new 30. . . Then 30 is, geeze-- what, the new 16-ish, like??? Man, GF, you are in your PRIME! The physical power of youth! The personal sense of immortality! The. . . awkward growth spurts. The. . . inability to speak coherent sentences. . . in front of a pretty girl. . . Learning. . .to drive. . .a stick-shift. . . Okay--- maybe they weren't all glory days--- Many happy returns, though, eh? ;D HB

I was born in 1981, Still can't belive that I am 30 right now. Yep-- and the thing is, you don't really feel any different, do you? You hit these Milestone Birthdays (50, 40, 30. . . ), but the ol' personality profile seems to be pretty much interchangable with the one installed at, oh, about 21 or so. Maybe a little less manic, maybe a little more focused, and certainly a bit more world-weary-- but tastes, sense of humor, interpersonal preferences, and that sense of being "ourself"-? Nah, that doesn't seem to be tied so much to chronological age at all. Heck, I'm sure my wife will still be waiting for me to "grow out" of some quirky personality nuance or other when I've hit my 75th b-day. . . . . . remind me to report back at that point. . . H ("Oy, my lumbago!")B

And one other thing I am still a fan of the Sentry, I don't care what anyone thinks about him being a useless character.
That's all I'm gonna say but thanks for the birthday wishes.

Nah, that's fine, G-Fist. On these very boards I've defended Rage more than once (someone who is consistently on that "least favorite Avenger" list) as a character whose origin & personal situation I liked a lot-- one who had a wealth of unexplored potential. In fact, I enjoyed both having him & the Sandman on the team for the very short time it occurred. I didn't follow either of them to their subsequent teams, but would love to see them return to the Avengers fold somehow, someday. Wildly unpopular with the majority of folks, sure-- but it looks like every character has someone they speak to. *sigh*-- you just have to have a thick-ish skin-- (Is this where I talk about how great the Hulk is. . . ? ;D) HB

It's Sharkar's day!! Happy birthday to one of our longstanding pillars & endless source of arcane knowledge! Have a great one! Waitwaitwaitwaitwait-- what gives here, eh? Shir, the calendar says it's YOUR birthday! Is this a clever subterfuge on your part? Or. . . do you & Shar share a birthday?? (Heh-- "Shar & Shir"-- heh--) Wait-- are you. . . THE SAME PERSON??? Or, holy cow, are you guys BOTH "cfb" ? Ohhhhhh, to whom do we owe our fondest regards. . . ?? HB

And did I actually say "Happy Birthday" to the both of you fine, fine folks? I don't think I did, so please let me have this opportunity to do so, eh? It is both an honor and a never-ceasing pleasure to share this little community with each of you.
Shar, you're kind of our Gaia/Shirley Partridge/Madame Web/Kinsey Milhone figure (there's one in every crowd, I'm sure. . . yes?); and Shir you're always our Fletcher Christian/Captain Picard/Baldur the Brave--- just a couple of terrific role models for all the rest of us!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY once again!

Heyheyheyheya-- it's KidCage's birthday today! Boy, and in this crowd, the "Kid" part (at a ripe old 27) may be the telling descriptor! I'll tell you chum, even if we're all together here on this board 50 years from now, you'll probably still be hearing laments from the rest of us more age-accelerated types-- "Y'know, back when I was YOUR age, they didn't even PUT covers on comic books! They were just stuck between two pieces of tree bark! And we were GLAD to have it, ya dadburned whipper-snapper!!" Which, of course, won't make chronological sense, but our more aged brains will, by then, have been permanently rattled from trying to operate for too many decades in Special Compressed Marvel Universe Time-- and we'll have lost all temporal context. That will, of course, be your ultimate opportunity to overthrow Shiryu and Van and Shar & everyone, and finally take over the board as your own! HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA! And you will at last rule over us, your eternal tormentors, with an adamantium glove!!! Ah, what a nice birthday gift that would make, eh? Many happy returns on this day, of course! Man, I just never get tired of birthdays. . . HB

Hey, it's the Birthday of our resident arachno-insect hybrid-- SpiderWasp! Is he a flying, octo-legged creature of venomous stinging AND fanged death?? Or is he simply a tormented man, trapped in a form not of his own making??? (Boy, if only the late Don LaFontaine were around to give that a proper voice-over treatment. . . or at least Dawes Butler. . . ) SW hasn't been around for a couple o' weeks. . . is age catchin' up with him? Sleeping in too late, hmm? Wait, isn't SW one of our contingent of Teachers? Perhaps we could ALL send him commemorative "Happy B-Day to the World's Greatest Teacher" mugs, eh? (Of course, if he's NOT a teacher after all. . . well, it wouldn't really be our problem at that point. . . ) Ha! Happy Birthday, SW-- hope you pop up soon to receive all appropriate greetings. . . ;D HB

I check in often to read but just haven't had anything particularly profound to add (Not that that's ever stopped me before). I love the description of my powers - makes me the resident friendly neighborhood web slinger-stinger I guess.

Oh. Wow. It's a MOMENTOUS birthday today--! DLW66-!!! Our board's historically most prolific poster (in spite of that trifling "Bronze Age Babies" blog-distraction-thingy always pulling his time away from us folks here what loves him. . . ); our only actual honest-to-goodness Jarvis-head; someone whom Van P himself surely looks nervously for over his shoulder. Oh indeed, a towering figure in our community here-! So-- what's the protocol? Do we surrender tribute or offer sacrifices or something? Vie for the honor of being selected as members of your entourage (or is "posse", now? Or wait-- maybe it's "crew")? Ah, we are indeed at your disposal, sir! (Actually, bobc would be a good bodyguard-type, as he does a lot of weight-lifting and stuff. Maybe pick him first. Me, I'm more the food-taster type. . . ) Happy B-day! ;D ;D ;D HB
