We've had a terrific (albeit hectic and exhausting!) time of it here in the HBHousehold-- I sincerely hope all of you fine teammates are enjoying (in whatever your personal tradition you may have--!) it as much as we have.
Best to all-!

A belated Merry Christmas to one and all. I hope Santa was good to you. My Christmas was low key but nice.

Say, here's an interesting Avengers-related thingy I got from my delightful youngest sister-in-law:
An Avengers t-shirt w/ a faux-vintage image on it (with the original logo) of the group that you would SWEAR was drawn by Jack Kirby, except here's who's in it, and how they look:
Giant-Man/Wasp- circa #2, I think. Thor Hulk Iron Man (w/ his first red/gold armor-- w/ the split-top faceplate) Cap (!)
Everyone standing in a group, facing the camera, as it were. Aaaaand if you think about, this grouping never actually existed, right? Other than in Avengers #5. . . except that the Hulk really had already quit by then, and was just part of the melee w/ the Lava Men. . .
Ahhhh, NOTHING says Christmas like a full-blown Geek-spasm, eh? ;D
Couple of other happy (and thoughtful) gifts from an indulgent family:
LOST complete series (thanks Mom!) Nice Spiderman & Cap t-shirts (higher quality, too) ETERNAL DARKNESS Gamecube (thanks HBWife!) Yellow Submarine, Beatles, and Woodstock posters (Thanks HBGirl!) Laser Khet (extremely cool, hard-to-find board game-- thanks HBSon!)
And indeed several other items of happy delight and diversion. And it was an even better holiday for the shopping done for said beloved family members. Many surprises and MUCH delight-- and a very enjoyable, extended Christmas morning as we shuffled from one little traditional activity to the next. "Breakfast" ended up happening at about noon, in fact. Heh.
Just my favorite holiday and time of year. . . no question.
HB-- still soaking in the good feelin's. . .

Wow, you certainly have a generous family, HB! ;D Is this the shirt Sis-in-Law gave you? Wow, amazingly, no-- although this shirt fits all of the criteria I mentioned. . . down to the incongruity! Golly, I wish I was set up to send images. The art really looks very, very much like it's truly circa Avengers #2 or 3-- although the inking is somewhat less muddy. And it's clearly a Kirby-swipe. Boy, you'd think "how many versions of that particular image on a t-shirt could there be bouncing around??" HB

Wow, amazingly, no-- although this shirt fits all of the criteria I mentioned. . . down to the incongruity! You know, it doesn't quite meet all of your earlier criteria: it could never be considered anything close to a Kirby swipe (though undoubtedly it was drawn to evoke the "good old days"). But I saw it online and so I'd thought I'd run it by you, just in case...(Btw, the image is from Avengers #1, Volume 3, courtesy of some guy named Perez. ) Golly, I wish I was set up to send images. Boy, you'd think "how many versions of that particular image on a t-shirt could there be bouncing around Okay, so I kept looking and here's another T shirt I found online with the roster you cited--but this image is from Avengers #5, the Lava Men issue you already mentioned. At any rate, here we have the Kirby splash from #5, minus Rick Jones (who's in that issue's splash) but with the addition of your boy the Hulk! ;D

We have a winner!! Ha!-- and I just read #5 not too long ago, and still missed the source-! And to think, here I was calling something a "swipe" when it was, in effect, that actual original source material. My deepest apologies to Mr. Kirby, eh? And boy, I do love this shirt, I must say--- ;D HB

Must say, I like the blue t-shirt better than the white one. What a cool gift!

Why, thank ya kindly, Pym-!
Hoooo-boy, it's about 10:40 here in the Balt/Wash corridor in Maryland. HBWife & I just finished the massive amount of Christmas dinner dishes & china and all, and got the kitchen cleaned up and everything put away. A truly delightful day topped by a feast which included our next door neighbors who had no family on-hand at all. Sat around the table for over 2-1/2 hours, all told! Chatting, visiting, laughing, (eating). I must confess to eating an almost impossible amount of food over the last 24 hours. Huge Christmas Eve dinner; "early" muffins&fruit to go with opening our stockings; Big hefty brunch of omelets & sausage; chocolate-covered pot.chips (and other chocolate treats) throughout the day; and then a new big dinner tonight. Late in the day eating-stamina became an issue for me as dinnertime approached. If one has to think about pacing one's consumption, one may be seriously overeating!
What a fine day, though. Cannot believe what a great family I'm in. 'Course, that's a vote that's likely to end in a many-multiple tie, eh?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
I got a great surprise....the Marvel: 75 Years of Cover Art book. It's huge and heavy (bigger and heavier than the Marvel Chronicle book I got a few years ago, I think).....I KNOW all these images are readily available on the internet, but for a comic book lover (and COVER lover) and BOOKWORM like myself, it was the perfect gift!
I felt like a little kid again, looking through the pages and thinking, "I got that one, I got that one...."
PEACE, starfoxxx

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I got a great surprise....the Marvel: 75 Years of Cover Art book... PEACE, starfoxxx I need that book! I guess I shouldn't complain, though; I received a similar gift, the monumental Taschen 75 Years of Marvel. The Cover Art book will have to go on my birthday wishlist. Speaking of the Taschen book, here is a link to a video of Stan and Roy Thomas discussing the book with Kevin Smith. In light of the upcoming movie, Roy discusses the Vision and Ultron (starting around 35:00) but Stan is the star here and dominates, just as he did at Marvel during its growth period. btw, Mr. Lee just turned 92 yesterday December 28th--Happy Birthday, Stan! And happy holidays/happy new year to all here.
