Yes, more or less those were the general lines of my thinking, but I must say you gave the situation even more thought than I did. And Tigra flirted with Hank, Tony AND Simon during her stint with the West Coasters... . I would like to see how they would deal with leadership issues in a team with 3 or 4 capable leaders, but without Cap being around. Historically, Tony has a problem with playing nice when he isn't in charge himself, even when he's the one who put them in charge in the first place...! Okay, okay-- Saturday afternoon, waiting for my daughter at dance class again (competition season-- a lot of extra practices right now), and perhaps one's mind wanders down the familiar old "hey, wouldn't it be cool if-?" road that was a favored pastime from when we were twelve, y'know? (Which I believe has been alluded to around here recently--) But Bong's scenario just keeps creeping back into my thoughts, I'm afraid. In the spirit of there never being too much of a good thing, could we add to his melodrama-laden dream-team? I'm thinking that bringing back the (original) Vision, and then adding Wanda, Black Knight, and Jocasta to this mix would be a veritable Death-by-Chocolate of entangled personal plot potential, here. That's, what, 12 characters who, with the exception of songbird, have complicated relationships with multiple other members of the team. Plus it adds one more legitimate leader (Wanda, from Force Works), a former field leader (Swordsman) Ha! Meant BLACK KNIGHT here, not Swordsman! 9-30-11, and a somewhat illegitimate former leader/LONGtime stalwart (Vision). Ohhhhh the group therapy sessions that could be led by Jarvis. . . (Granted, Doc Samson would probably start them up, but his sanctimonious behind would get tossed out on its. . . ear. . . in short order) Granted that not many folks may have read Force Works but me. . . but I do recall that Tony was particularly horrible in that series about not playing nice with the very team leader that he had more-or-less appointed (Wanda). This would be a very tough group, no doubt. HB-- just wastin' everyone's time. . . ;D

I'm always delighted (and blown away!) by how you're always able to pull up an appropriate visual aid reference for any discussion! (I think your "twin sons" head shots of Steve Rogers & Robert Redford awhile back may have been your award-winner so far. . . ) Thanks, HB. And you know, the young Redford studied art (painting)--hey, isn't Steve Rogers supposed to be an artist, too? ;D As I now view this with a slightly more critical eye--- does it look just a bit patched-together to you, maybe? Kind of odd perspectives & proportions? And even as a kid I thought Spidey's mask looked very. . . off, here. Yes, it does look slapped on--the head could be the result of a Romita touch up/paste up job. Btw I recall reading somewhere that this was originally a sketch for #58's cover--so characters such as Wanda, Pietro, Spidey and others who weren't appearing in the book at the time were likely added later when it was decided against using this sketch for the cover. Anyway when I first read #58 I also remember being struck by the closeness (in time) of this page to the one that had just appeared a mere couple of months earlier, in Avengers Special/Annual #2 (which was published at the time of Avengers #56). Not to mention in the quasi-pin-up on page 2 of #58. The plethora of group shots during that time served as a showcase for John Buscema's supreme rendering of the human body--and it also seems to have been Roy's way of reinforcing his own vision (no pun intended) of the Avengers, which was that of a team that included the Big Three plus other heroes--instead of the smaller-sized teams favored by Stan that did not include the Big Three (so as not to conflict with the adventures in their own comics). Here's the pin-up from Avengers Special/Annual #2--sorry I could not line up the pages very well, but you get the idea.

Hello
I have searched the boards for another outlet. At risk of being 'off-topic'...I choose to comment here.....as I have come to trust the souls who have posted.
The new animated series is better than I would have thought. Coming out of the nightmare that was the previous attempt....the armored version that reminded me of an unhappy extension of What If #3.
Sure....there have been adaptions made.....but it is an overall positive viewing experience.....with great 'nods' to Avenger lore.
After the whole Kang storyline is resolved.....I look forward to a possible Zodiac theme....after the Ultron problem is addressed.

But hey--- what do you think about Hercules as he's drawn here? Does he look sort of like someone else might have drawn him? The pose isn't JB-ish. . . he doesn't seem as innately graceful or dynamic. . . the face seems stylistically quite different. I mean, it looks a little like (of all people) Bill Everett to me. Or I would say Mike Ploog, except I'm not sure he was an adult at this point in time. Keepin' ya on yer toes, ol' pal! HB

Everett did the inking on this pin-up. And Herc could be the result of more Everett and less Buscema. While I think Herc's pose is JB-ish--IMO it resembles that of Hawkeye's on #44's cover, which was by Buscema--I know I've seen the pencils for this somewhere and IIRC Hercules was not on the original page penciled by JB, Herc was added later. I'll see if I can find the penciled version and I'll post it.

Thor was better than expected....non stop action. The part of Loki confirms the impetus for the Avengers movie. X-Men: First Class seems to have stolen the show.....i hope those guys at the Avengers think tank have a few aces up their sleeves. Green Lantern.....worth the price of admission....but nothing to be excited about. It is missing something....just not sure what it is. Cannot seem to get excited for Captain AmericaBe well

Be well I've kind of lost track-- but I was pretty sure that Hank & Jan would definitely be minor characters in the film. Nathan Filian confirmed that he was offered the role and ready to sign on, until CASTLE got picked up (to his surprise and delight) for another season. Man, I hope they're still gonna be in the film, though. HB

Can you be imprinted twice?
I love the team that existed in the 120s because that's when I started reading Avengers but I also have a big soft spot for the team during the Busiek/Perez run as well.

I guess that you can be imprinted several times...as long as the source material is something that reaches you. This can change ....as the world and it's political/religious and artistic climate change to reflect the times.

Hello friends I have had discussions with friends about the very brief cameo of The Human Torch in Cap's movie. I say that it may have been within 24 hrs of the Expo that Dr. Horton broke the seal of the case and gave birth to the first Human Torch. Hope that you are well.

Out of idle curiosity, I just checked out exactly where the heck Rutland, Vermont is on a map. Man, it's certainly not a town you'd happen to pass by on the way to anywhere else! It looks like you'd pretty much have to go there with the intention of. . . going there-! Wonder if they still do that whole superhero Halloween parade thing? HB

To answer my own question, yep they do still have their big, ol' parade-- clearly the highlight of the town's social calendar! This year there was a bit of excitement as the local "Occupy Rutland" movement was part of the parade, as well. Man, that's about as grass-roots as it gets, I'm thinking. . . (But god bless 'em, make no mistake-!) HB
