So...Randy Bowen was asking for images of the Neo-Classic Iron Man armor for a forthcoming statue. I asked him about doing another Classic Iron Man statue as well? He said he was concerned that folks may have had enough of that armor. That gave me the idea to start a poll featuring ALL of the major Iron Man armors to see which ones folks would like to see produced as statues... www.statuemarvels.com/f87/iron-man-armor-gallery-poll-bowen-designs-9077.html Looks like people are still hungry for the Classic!

Idle curiosity, Al--- When you show a piece in-process like that, are we looking at a clay figure, or something that's been cast, or something else entirely? And how does the artist go about tweaking it at this stage? It seems like doing anything would just wreck the whole piece--- changing a hand or an expression or even a subtle shift of position--- how is that do-able? Welllllll, and since I'm talking about it, I'll go ahead and have the nerve to toss in one or two cents' worth of artistic observation: No question of your artist's (Bowen's?) talent. Absolutely a given. But I think this figure's pose may be both too static and too symmetrical. It reads to me as a statue of Thanos, as opposed to being Thanos. Or perhaps. . . as Thanos posing for his own statue (appropriately metaphysical, I suppose. . . ). Granted, Thanos isn't the most inherently kinetic bump on the cosmic log, but perhaps that's all the more reason to look for some subtle tweak to his physicality that assures us we've captured him in an unguarded moment. . . ? Whatcha think? HB

I particularly like this Hercules figure. You can all but see the wheels turning on just how he should go about delivering "the gift of battle". But- ha!- someone, anyone-- what's the story with those original leather-strap leg-warmers of his?? I could hardly bear to look at them when I was a kid-! I'm assuming this outfit was originally a Jack Kirby design. Do we think Jack may have pulled this from research on gladiatorial attire-- or was this more from a sense of his legs looking a little too naked in that mini-skirt thing he wore? (It's not a loin cloth, it's not a toga, it's not a shift. . . what the heck is it-?)

The new Hawkeye statue will be nice, maybe I'll see if I can scrounge up the money for it. I've also seen some of the WIP pictures of the Mockingbird mini-bust, and I will probably make that my first mini-bust buy.
