Enter the Heroic Age is an anthology style one-shot that previews five different upcoming ongoing Marvel titles with original "prologue" style stories to give readers a taste of what's coming up. Today IGN is able to give readers a sneak peek at the Hawkeye & Mockingbird segment of Enter the Heroic Age, a perfect introduction to the full series that starts in June. We also snagged writer Jim McCann for a quick comment on the series: "This is it! What fans have been demanding for years is finally here - Clint Barton is back as Hawkeye! Reunited with Marvel's Super Spy Mockingbird, these tempestuous twosome have reformed a new W.C.A. with a new mission & a new headquarters in an all-new ongoing series. "This prologue sets the stage for what is to come for these two and their teammates as mysterious forces are beginning to take hold in the dark corners of the Marvel U. Old enemies are poised to return in dramatic new ways in this high-octane, no-holds-barred super hero action/espionage series featuring the Mr. & Mrs. Smith of the Marvel U!" Hawkeye & Mockingbird #1, by McCann and artist David Lopez, hits stores on June 3. media.comics.ign.com/media/063/063266/img_7712870.htmlmedia.comics.ign.com/media/063/063266/img_7712833.htmlmedia.comics.ign.com/media/063/063266/img_7712831.htmlmedia.comics.ign.com/media/063/063266/img_7712835.html

Am I the only person who has high hopes for this series? While the "Mr. and Mrs. Smith of the MU" is an unfortunate quote, the first two baddies are Crossfire and the Phantom Rider, which is about as classic Clint & Bobbi as it gets.
I always loved Crossfire as a kid (thanks to Gruenwald's masterful handling of the character), and I think that McCann, by playing up his espionage/dirty tricks background, could really make him the perfect foil for Mockingbird, who (in her classic appearances) was never really allowed to explore her background in intelligence.
While Clint's been dreadfully mishandled over the last few years, I can't help but imagine this might be a return to form for one of my all-time favorite super-hero couples.

You're definitely not the only one. I've got this as my #1 book I'm looking forward to in this whole Heroic Age thing.

Hawkeye's suit looks a little diffrent from the suit he use to wear. Would anyone prefer to see them in their original suits or do you like them in the suits they have on Hawkeye and Mock ingbird #1

I definitely wouldn't mind a return to the old outfits, the new outfit (especially Mockingbird's) seems to be more modern and "spy." If they're going to continue to play up the spy angle with her, the outfit current is cool.

The "new" Hawkeye outfit looks like the one from the '80s, with the one long sleeve. Which is fine by me, always was my favorite outfit of his.
Also, I cannot complain about Mockingbird's new digs. The original costume left something to be desired, especially the sleeves.

Yeah, the sleeves are a bit... dated... but I've always had a soft spot for the older uniforms.

Definitely looking forward to this. The first issue was actually really good, and as much as I love the characters I was worried that the love of them having their own series would cloud my judgement, but it didn't. I'm really interested to see the Phantom Rider/Crossfire angle play out, along with the revelation Clint made meeting Bobbi's parents.
All in all, other than Secret Avengers, it's definitely the series to read for me with the whole "Heroic Age."

HAWKEYE & MOCKINGBIRD #4 Written by JIM MCCANN Penciled by DAVID LOPEZ Cover by PAUL RENAUD Is the love already destroyed, in the book that IGN.com calls "A hell of a good time"? Torn and battered – and rocked by the actions taken last issue – can Hawkeye & Mockingbird even trust each other anymore? The deadly duo known as Crossfire and Phantom Rider are betting against it as they continue their bloody path of revenge! To turn the tables, our quarreling couple must put aside their differences, set their own trap, and bring in a surprise player! i.newsarama.com/images/52_hawkeye___mockingbird_4_02.jpg

Continues to be my favorite series since the launch of the whole "Heroic Age." Also looking forward to the crossover it will be doing with Black Widow.

Like the cover. Whoever does the cover art for this series is just amazing and is seriously creating a very attractive Mockingbird to look at. Yowza! So who else here reads this?

Me! ;D Lovin' this series; love the writing, love the art (fan of the artist ever since PAD's Fallen Angel series at DC). I'm kinda worried though; the crossover changed to a mini without much attention, and a new Hawkeye mini after Widowmaker, makes me wonder if there will be a H&M series to return to.....

Well, rats-- and now we immediately hit you in the face with bad news. . . Yep, H & M is done. Its storyline more or less should be wrapping up in Widowmaker, if I understand their annct. correctly. Click that "50 most recent posts" button-- just began a thread a couple of days ago about this very topic. Ah, very sorry to bear bad tidings. . . HB

This is what happens when Masters work bogs down my ability to come to this board often. Well crap, and this was THE Marvel Title for me. I hadn't heard about a Hawkeye mini afterwards, and unless I missed something in the letters section of H & M, I didn't see that it was ending.
Well... crap.

Issue #6 came in the mail with the usual cancellation notice included. As soon as you see that extra page, you know it's the Hammer of Doom. Sort of like getting a pink slip in the ol' pay envelope in the old days--- not even really necessary to read it, other than to find out what title they're shifting you to. Wow, Master's Degree time was one of the periods in my life, too, where keeping up with comics took a very distant back seat to everything else I was doing! Particularly the third year-- I remember maintaining my subscriptions at my father's address, since I was still moving every year or so. . . HB P.S.-- Mind you, kidcage, this was (Sweet Sufferin' Moses!) when you were, like, three years old! It was very different then. We had to do our Thesis Papers uphill for 5 miles in a blinding snowstorm every day. Instead of computers, we had to chisel our exams onto stone tablets. (Actually, I did type my thesis out on my fiancee's KayPro "portable" computer--- which couldn't have weighed less than 35 pounds. . . ) Ahhhh, you kids have it so easy. . . ;D HB

The first time I set foot on the school for my BA as a student was when I walked at graduation . . . Oooooooohhhhh, if I just had one of those "slap myself across the forehead" emoticons. . . Where. . . where's the suffering? The sacrifice?? The barely-making-it angst??? Where are the ramen noodles? And the 15 Chinese students squatting illegally in the room downstairs?? And the waiting tables to make a bit of dating cash?? The dealing with classmates who are CLEARLY experiencing early mid-life crises??? Ohhhhhh Kidcage, how could you pass all of that by?? Surely the temptation is irresistable. . . (Okay, okay-- there's ONE upside-- my wife was in fact the FIRST PERSON I met upon arriving at my grad school destination. But the rest of the experience, though technically successful, is best left in the dim recesses of time & memory. ) Rassafratchin' blastafrated kids todaymumblemumblegrumble. . . HB

lol. I know, I kinda get that reaction from a few people. Some people think I'm nuts for doing online courses, because I seem to notice the majority of people around here don't like online. I however have done all my homework while here at work.
So to add even more "rassafratchin kids..." between the two years of BA work and this what'll be about 14 months of Masters work...
I've only had to do "homework" at home maybe four or five times.
