So it's been a few years and the New Avengers aren't so New as they aproach issue #50. I haven't followed them much, Bendis is not my idea of a good writer. I was just wondering if he ever explained who paid Electro to free the inmates and why in issue #1.

Thanks for the reply Tana. Think I going to change my nik to Ignore Me!
So that was part of the whole "Lets go to Japan and fight Ninjas!" arc? She freed all the criminals to get Silver Samuri out?

Brother, I am at a loss as to all the motives behind the breakout. I thought the main thing was to break out Karl Lykos (aka Sauron), which had something to do with the skrulls getting the vibranium in the Savage Land (while posing as SHIELD agents). But honestly, I haven't been paying that much attention. I'm sure there are others on the board who have the full picture.

Heh heh! Nice pic Tone! Venture Brothers is one of the best animations out there right now. Though I have been won over by Metalocalypse of late.

Breaking out Sauron was the main objective, but breakign out all the others helped with the Skrulls' larger objective of causing as much chaos and trouble to occupy the heroes as possible. But yes, Tana is quite right, as usual- the Skrulls specifically hoped to break out Sauron to help with their Savage Land plans, as Vibranium was vital to them.

The Silver Samurai was helped out of the states by Hydra, with Viper thinking that it may bode well for an alliance between his forces and hers. He rejected her offer.

Thanks for the info everyone. That question just popped into my head the other day and like an annoying itch, wouldn't go away.

You should give NA a shot in trade form. It reads a lot better and now that things have calmed down and kinda reset creatively (kinda), you might like it better.

Sadly, I don't have the finances for any comics atm. As far as Bendis goes, I really don't care for him as a writer. I'll give the man some credit, he can come up with some amazing concepts but his execution of these stories leaves a lot to be desired. Besides, it's more fun to goof on him 'cause it's just so d**n easy.

I think the adage with Bendis holds true...
Bendis + Team Books = TEH SUXORZ Bendis + Solo Books = good
I avoided Bendis after Disassembled and the first few issues of New Avengers (all the Oy!'s and Wolverine's "stop raping me", along with other things).
I didn't pick up a Bendis title again until Secret Invasion and they were "ok".
However, my local comic shop guy got me started reading the Bendis run on Daredevil, and it is actually quite good. I had always avoided DD, never cared for the character really. Then I picked it up after becoming a huge Ed Brubaker fan, and he knocked DD out of the park for me.
But I think the Bendis run, so far I am up through vol. 11 in the TPB's, has been almost to the level of Brubaker's DD run. I have been rather pleased.
So, I am more inclined to give him a chance with solo titles, but still extremely wary of his team books.
