Looks like the newest "Avengers" team will include Iron man Wolverine Spidey (black costume) Ms. Marvel (original costume) ? and HAWKEYE this will drive me crazy if Bendis is writing this.... first, I have Iron Man overdose over the last year... second, I don't like the way Ms. Marvel has been written/handled in recent years, so I'm still not very interested.... third, I still don't consider Spidey or Wolverine Avengers..... so I probably would have no interest in pickin this up BUT , da** it, I've been really jonesin' for my Hawkeye fix for a couple years now, and they go and pull this crap. If Bendis is behind this,( ARRRRGHHH! ) he continues to screw with true Avengers fans. hey, it may be good, but at this point, I'm sick of getting burned, and might rely on the reviews of this forum before spending my cash. It just seems like not many are reading the new stories (and I can't say I blame you) and the review posts are dwindling.

Well, if this is true, I guess we'll have to wait and see but I don't get how Spider-Man, Wolverine and Hawkeye would be willing to trust IM after the events recently transpired in the MU. Assuming, of course, we're talking Clint Barton when we say Hawkeye... Regarding Spidey, even if he doesn't remember anymore his close, rocky past relatiosnhip with Tony he should still be very wary of the (former...?) director of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a non-registered adventurer.

It could be these are the "dirty work" team of Avengers. Kinda like the new "X-Force" is to the X-Men these days. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Force#2008_ongoing_series) Which, if this is the case, then I'm really torn about it.

Actually, Bong, The image I saw was from the article, "Who are the Dark Avengers?" on the Marvel News site, and the Iron Man figure has a star on his chest where the circle usually is, so maybe this isn't Tony, maybe it's Cap, or Iron Patriot, or something else altogether. and the Spidey looks pretty buff, too. (Venom? ) but the Hawkeye looks like the old Hawkeye

<<<SPOILER ALERT (maybe)>>>
here's a theory on the Dark Avengers, suggesting they ARE an Avengers-"related" comic, and not a REAL Avengers team
Iron Patriot = Norman Osbourne Ms. Marvel = Moonstone Spider-man = Venom Hawkeye = Bullseye Wolverine = Daken
this would actually make me happy, if this book doesn't feature the return of the REAL Hawkeye, i won't feel obliged to pick it up

I'm not planning on buying the book anyway but if what you suggest turns out to be true, I don't even have to wonder if I'm missing anything.

I'm pretty sure starfoxx is right. It has been said that this is Norman Osborn's handpicked Avengers team, IE: Villains masquerading as heroes รก la original T-bolts. (Bringing some folk over from the Thunderbolts)
If this is true, I'd actually LOVE it, because I'd be much more interested in reading that than another 'street-level kewl' Avengers book.

That actually WOULD be a cool idea, if it were true. A while ago I bought two Thunderbolts books, just to try them out, it was a great concept, and great books! I might be interested in trying this one out, and since I know I'm going to try out Mighty Avengers, why not?

Don't forget that Sentry, Ares, and Noh-Varr will be part of the Dark Avengers.

Come on, Dr.Bong. Since when has Bendis been the least bit interested in a story making sense? Since when has he been able to follow continuity over more than one issue--even if it's his own continuity?

I think that is an unfair comparison. After nearly 50 years, I can honestly sympathize with writers who feel like they are drowning in continuity minutia. I am no slave to continuity. But I think Bendis has gone waaaay too far. I think Kurt Busiek is a great example of a writer who is respectful of Marvel history, but isn't a slave to it. He was really good at bringing in relatively controversial characters like the Beast and Moondragon, while never losing sight of the fact that Captain America, Thor and Iron Man are the core of the Avengers.
