Taking a page from the editorial playbook today, Marvel released its own top ten list hyping why fans should invest in Ultimate Origins, the upcoming five issue "prequel" mini-series by Brian Bendis and Butch Guice. Origins could not come at a better time. Once the juggernaut imprint dominating the monthly sales charts, the Ultimate Universe has largely fallen off the radar. Fans have turned to Marvel's core universe, with events like Civil War dominating mind and market share. In fact events for the Ultimate Universe have completely vanished since the often-delayed Ultimate Galactus trilogy wrapped nearly two years ago. Despite the waning interest, Marvel is preparing a one-two punch that it claims will revive the imprint. Ultimate Origins, which is due to launch next month, will be followed by Ultimatum, a mini-series written by Jeph Loeb with art by David Finch. A release date has not been set for that series, though it is slated to begin before the end of 2008. Here is Marvel's self-censored top ten teaser. IGN will bring you the latest on the Ultimate Universe as new information is released. media.comics.ign.com/media/944/944220/img_5527494.html
