This 4 issue release is the X-mens version of the Civil War Tie-in
I have one question
Why?
This mini-series has nothing to do with the story. X-factor had more to do with Civil war than this release did.
I'm not even going to waste my time breaking this down into an issue by issue break down. As a Civil War tie-in this is a complete failure. I didn't even notice that my first time through. A few communications with charaters involved in the war doesn't make a tie-in.
As for relevance to Civil War on a scale of 1 to 10:
0
Now for the story review itself:
I really enjoyed it as a stand-alone story. It was packed with action and background. If it weren't for the continual repeating question "What has this got to do with the Civil War" I would have no problems with this release.
Things I enjoyed:
X-Men action.
I love the new Sentinels. No longer being complete push-overs adds something to their appeal.
I liked Micro-Max, size changing and density control. Sweet.
Cyclops has always been so reserved. We have always known that he has this untapped potential and that one f the reasons he's so standoffish is because he's afraid of letting go. Here we got to see some of that power level.
Val taking the shorter road to success via General Lazers knee caps.
The originals go all 3 Musketeers
A always liked Leech and his powers were well written into this series.
Things I didn't like:
Johnny's powers,.. that's just creepy, as is he.
The 198 being prisoners in the compound to start off with. Reeked of Genosha
as a story this was a pretty good one. Tying it into Civil War to generate interest, not so cool.
Those things in mind
7 Loonies out of 10
