Word has it that a heavy object will fall from the sky, as part of this year's big Marvel events, and it will herald the return of a classic Marvel character. It's supposed to happen in the pages of FANTASTIC FOUR.
JMS writes FF.
JMS suggested (last year) that Thor's hammer would fall to Earth, and no one can move it, and so SHIELD (or someone) builds an installation over it, to study it.
This ain't a spoiler, folks-- it's stuff Marvel has openly said (last year), and then some 2+2 math on my part.
Thoughts?

I've read that too somewhere, I think in an interview with Quesada. What can I say, guess it depends on how the story is handled. Thor died in a very nice way, and, even though I'm looking forward for him to be back, I also hope his rebirth will be up to the expectations. The most interesting thing from me will be seeing what he thinks of the New Avengers ;D The idea of the hammer falling on earth is not too bad, and apparently a group of people will pick it and other Asgardian objects up, becoming the new incarnations of the Gods. In conclusion, there is potential for good and potential for crap, it's up to the writers.

Would be great having an ongoing series again. I enjoyed Jurgens allfather (is that the right term?) Thor storyline a lot and see really no other sense than bringing the series to an end with Daniel Berman`s/ Michael Avon Oeming`s Ragnarok story.
A shame that Jurgens could not tell his end the way he wanted to. But maybe the sellings were too bad.

As far as I know, it didn't depend on the sellings. Marvel needed Thor to be tied in with the Avengers Disassembled, and Jurgens couldn't in his storyline, so he was removed, with only a few weeks advice. He was basically told so around his second last issue, which is why the conclusion to his storyline is so quick. Apparently, he was planning to have Thor travelling into space to find himself again, and his son Magni would have had a lot of space too for a while.

Yeah, but I don´t get the logik behind this. First, as far as I remember, Ragnarok wasn´t that much tied into Disassembled. For sure the Avengers would have needed Thor´s power, but he wasn´t there at all, that´s it. Second, Thor "died" and his series was cancelled. Was there any other series cancelled, because of Disassembled? Maybe the truth is much simpler and Quesada didn´t get along with Jurgens (and vice versa). Wouldn´t have been the first time a writer (has to) quits for this reason.

Yes Avengers, captain America and Iron Man where all canceled and restarted, the orginal plan was for Thor to restart with the rest of them, with Mark Millar (Ultimates) writing it, based on the idea that thors hammer feel to earth and a Iowa teen picked it up and got the powers of thor (note: he would not become thor, it would just be a teen with the powers of thor), anyway, the idea meant with such hate from the fans when it got rumoured by Wizard that Marvel nixed it and Millar moved on to UFF, and the plans for Thors return got delayed until now.
So no it had nothing to do with sales, in fact thor was selling around 35K before disassembled and his disassembled issues where selling around 40K.

This link pretty much says it all: www.newsarama.com/marvelnew/FF/FF537.htmIt will be nice to have Thor back eventually. The four books I purchased religiously were Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man and Thor. My sub list feels empty without the old Thunder God around. A4E
