Well, I didn't see this posted here so I thought I'd give the heads up. www.superherohype.com are reporting that Zak Penn, who wrote among other things X-Men 2 and X-Men 3, plus Incredible Hulk is writing a script for the Avengers movie. The fact that this is being said now makes me think we will get it after Cap, Thor and IM movies- which means the big 3 will already be well established, making it less of an origin pic! Well, with an Ant-Man pic apparantly having Pym in flashbacks, I think there is a chance we'll get him as YJ or Giant-Man.... my guess at the line-up for movie 1 is The Big Three, Hank and Wasp, with Quicky, Vision and Witchy added in sequel 2 and maybe Ms Marvel and Wonder Man in movie 3.... This is the first definitive news yet on the movie so... I WAS THE FIRST TO SAY, AHHAHAHAHAHA <prays it isn't already being discussed>

I'll aproach it with all due skepticism.

I'll aproach it with all due skepticism. Oh yes. Seriously, the way to make a really, really good Avengers film would be to have it animated in the Final Fantasy style. The story? The events of the Nefaria trilogy and complete with the Lethal Legion, but with an unrevealed Ultron as the mastermind instead of Nefaria. So the Assemblers would be fighting an incredibly amped Ultron. It would of course need to be padded out for character introductions and moments, complete with a 10 minute flashback as new Avenger Beast learns about the origin of the Avengers and some of their finest adventures. The Assemblers would be: Captain America Iron Man Vision Scarlet Witch Yellowjacket Wasp Wonder Man Beast ...with a special appearance at the climax of the battle by Thor, which would be in keeping with how the story panned out.

Well it is indeed now confirmed by Marvel themselves. An Avengers film is being made... whether it ever IS made is of course, up for debate I loved the Nefaria trilogy. One of my favourite old stories (...AND VERILY THINE HOUR OF JUDGEMENT HATH COME!.... surpassed only by 'We would have words with thee!') But I'm not sure it could be translated well to film. At the very least Thor would need to appear at the start so the audience knew who he was! Plus, I wouldn't have Beast be there. I mean, he is an X-Men first for and foremost- for the movies it's dfefinitely best not to confuse people.

At least they are working on the idea. However, the actual movie is still far away, they would have to accept the script, find a director, make the casting (with an eye on possible Cap, Thor and Iron Man movies), filming etc...

I don't think we can say Iron Man is 'possible' anymore. They start filming early next year, everything is pretty much ready, the POSTER is out. Iron Man is a cert. Cap and Thor, while both are being scripted, are 'probable' atm. So is Avengers. But let's face it. It will rock if it is made They did say they were looking for inspiration from Ultimates which is mixed for me... I mean, i guess The Ultimates is easily the best Ultimate book just as Avengers once was for 616 but... well, I guess some things are easier to 'buy' from the Ultimates.

Until they start filming we can't be 100% sure, but yeah, Shellhead's movie is higly likely. I wonder if for a possible Avengers movie they will use the cast from these movies, it would be great to have some continuity there too.

They're all owned by Marvel so I would assume so.

I guess the challenge will be to find a director willing to merge three movies together. To my knowledge, that has never really been done before.

I think the main issue here is that the caracthers aren't known by the general public, and making a movie for all of us fanboys wouldn't be profitable enough. There was a way to change this.... I had this idea last night: Imagine a TV series (don' start laughing yet or calling me names!!). 20-30 minutes in duration in a format of a newscast. But with the news in he Marvel Universe. For example. the first episode could be about the crash of the experimental rocket that Reed Richards developed or the misterious disapearing of buildings (like in FF #1). This series would cover all main events in the Marvel Universe and prepare the ground for upcoming Marvel films. And it wouldn't be too expensive because the news crews would be kept at distance from the battlegrounds, so with a little CGI we could see the battles or audio interviews with caracthers. Maybe I just got to much spare time but it looks like a good idea. Tell me what you think about it.
