From ign.com here's a review for Captain America #33.
Were it not for the unfortunate release of Amazing Spider-Man #545, this week would actually go down as a stellar cap to Marvel's 2007 schedule. Case in point, a new issue of Captain America hits the stands this week. While I thought issue #32 was an ever-so-minor dip in quality for Ed Brubaker, his follow-up immediately makes up for that. Where else can you see a disembodied robot arm wreak untold havoc on hapless S.H.I.E.L.D. soldiers? Nextwave was cancelled a while back, so the answer is nowhere.
Last issue saw poor, tortured Bucky taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D. Considering his mission of late has been to kill Tony Stark, this was probably a bad tactical move on their part. It isn't long before Bucky and his misplaced arm make their big escape, and the big showdown between Iron Man and Angry Man begins. The ensuing battle is spectacularly plotted considering Stark spends the mjority of the time pulling his punches and trying to appeal to Bucky's sense of reason. As always, thank Steve Epting for his picture-perfect rendering of every panel. The man could illustrate an entire issue of Bucky organizing his sock drawer and I'd be hooked.
I think some readers will come into this issue with a slight amount of unconscious resentment. We've all been waiting for issue #34 and its big reveal of the new Captain America's identity. I know that's how I felt. I want to know already, darn it! Well, don't be surprised if you come out of this issue knowing more than you expected. All I can say is that 2007 was a truly great year for Captain America, and I'm sure 2008 will only be better.
Review Score:9.2 Outstanding
