OK, on several other threads I have read many people saying how Stark and Cap haven't been portrayed true to character.
I agree with the Stark portion of this, however I don't think I agree with the Cap portion.
Remember back in the Cap no more arec when the government tried to put the reins on Cap. They told him what to do and he told them to lump it. This seems, to me, to be the same kind of conversation he had with agent Hill.
At this point many people on this board will point out his reaction makes the situation different. I'm not so sure. What if they had decided to attempt to arrest Cap for say, desertion, at the Cap no more arc. Do you think he would've let them? I'm not sure. Or to make the situation reflect the current one, what if when he handed in his shield, the comittee would've had several armed men try to take him down? I thik he would've defended himself. His reaction on the heli-carrier was also self-defense. He didn't attack anyone.
So then there will be those who say that the original Cap wouldn't have stretched out the battle. This is probably the only point I can really agree with. I think Cap probably would have seriously reconsidered his actions when Bill got killed.
Overall though, I think they strayed further from the true Iron Man than from the true Cap.

Ahh! Now I'm sure we must be dealing with a defective Doombot...! The true Master would have NEVER questioned his own wisdom...!!!

Actually, I think one of the main reasons why some of us question his characterization during CW has to do with the way how, in the end, he just loks around at the destruction BOTH sides have brought about & simply gives up... We think that the Cap we knew would have thought about this & anticipated it before actually commiting to go all the way against the registration forces... Another thing: traditionally, of the 2, IM has been portrayed as more hardheaded & stubborn, while Cap usually has been shown to be the more open minded & open hearted of the 2, especially when in relation to old friends & allies, and therefore it seems unlike him to not give Tony the chance to explain himself & his motives.

At this poitn I would want to point out the issue where IM and Cap have that long talk.
I would point it out but Cap did seem to come into that meeting with a closed mind.
But I ask again, You've been defending freedom for decades on decades and now the governmtent itself is infringing on those freedoms. Doesn't even the stalwart Cap have the right to have a breaking point?
As far as the final battle, Cap being who he is, when he looks around is, characteristically, going to take full responsibility, realizing that if he wasn't fighting there would be no fight.
