Yeeaaaahhhh... check it out here... Marvel.comSo, this page would seem to imply some sort of storyline where Punsiher becomes the next Captain America. But with all the misdirection that comes from Marvel... what truth could actually be behind it? Is this part of the Fallen Son series? If this is true, and it becomes the focal point of the CA title, then I guess I will be pulling it from my hold list, as fast as CA went on it. Can someone like W or Doom or anyone else that has read most (if not all) of the CW give us an update on Frank Castle's last known status with registration?

The Punisher has killed more men than cancer. I can't think of a less appropriate Captain America.

I don't think that Punisher will become THE new Captain America. Instead, he'll probably take the name and tell people he is. Make himself the new Captain America.
Punisher doesn't really care about registration. His biggest problem was that everyone was too busy fighting each other and not the villians. He followed Cap's orders because he was a soldier.

Probably more mis-direction from Marvel, ala the "Iron Man: Steve Rogers" cover that was seen on Amazon, with a red, white, and blue IM holding Cap's shield.
If not, and it's for real, then I can't see it lasting too long. That outfit is just plain ugly.
And oh yeah, Punisher is really really bad and should not be Cap ;D

Can someone like W or Doom or anyone else that has read most (if not all) of the CW give us an update on Frank Castle's last known status with registration? After Frank killed Jester and another "government-villain" who were smiting Spider-Man he was recruited by Cap (though Cap was, of course, hesitant and there was naturally some heavy opposition). When Frank on next occasion killed one or two captives (again some "ex-villains", forget their names, too), Cap broke with him. I think this was very good characterized, both men of principles, both men as very much alike as totally different. In PWJ #4 we saw some villains mourning for Stilt-Man and guess what Punisher did to them... So Frank is a lone wolf again and I think he does now business as usual again. He won´t have much cheerfulness for the pro-side, though.

oh...my... that costume looks like Liberace, G. Gordon Liddy and Morrisey each had a pen and wouldn't stop doodling until they ran out of ink. really stupid. sigh of course it'll sell well, thanks to the publicity of this high profile event and then Joe Q will somehow extrapolate from that "that this is the Cap that people want..." Of course I will then want to brain him a bag of oranges, but I won't.

I honestly really wish he became the new Cap, even though he won't. In my mind, it fits perfectly- and I've long subscribed to the idea of Frank as "Cap from a different time, in different circumstances." When he picked up CA's mask in civil war #7, I honestly imagined a voice booming
Become not the man you are... but the man you COULD be...

Become not the man you are... but the man you COULD be... He has the skills, of that there's little doubt. But he hasn't had the morality in a long, long time, and I fear there is no part of Frank Castle that could ever reclaim it. It might make an interesting story to have him think he's Captain America, and then get taken down by others, but that would only serve to drag Cap's reputation even further through the mud.

It's going to be Echo. See, when someone *else* takes over the Ronin identity, the poor girl will feel displaced. So she'll don the man suit again, only this time it will be Red, White, and Blue. With a little facial putty and an old World War II documentary of Cap's moves, she'll be good to go!

When the Red Skull captures Captain Echomerica he will waste all that time monologuing... because he has no lips for Echo to read.

What about this possibility. Captain Zemorica! Zemo comes back redeemed from his own series still wanting to be the best person in the world. Seeing his old rival's position open he attempts to fill it.

or if that were to fail Captain Clormerica. Iron Man has once again been plucking hair out of his friends' hairbrush. H emisses his old bud so much he whips him up a batch of Steve Rogers, throws it in the oven for 45 minutes at 350 and bingo. Instant Cap

Well, according to the Battle Damage special, they've taken Clor to a new base in Stamford, Connecticut where they'll see if he can be salvaged. According to advance hints from Tom Brevoort, Clor will return in some capacity.
Given a Clor, a Captain Clomerica should be no more difficult, and it would have the added advantage of giving Tony Cap's mouth through which to trumpet his own views!
Of course, when the real Thor returns Tony may be too busy digging a hole and pulling it in after him to work on Captain Clomerica. I can't see original Thor being any too happy about Clor, but new and improved Thor might not care. It would depend on exactly how he comes back, whether he picks up personality traits from his host, and other factors JMS has yet to reveal.

This reminds me of something I saw in Civil War 4, on the next to the last page. Stark, Richards, Janet Pym, and I think Happy Hogan are walking through a lab facility talking about when will the new heroes be on-line. In one panel, off to the side, we see what looks like some sort of liquid-filled tank. There's a person in it (well, we see a head but I am assuming the whole person is there). This person is male and has short blond hair.
If Stark took some of Thor's DNA, why not Cap's?
I know, it's depressing to consider....

How about a robo/clone combining personality traits of Cap & the Punisher...? American Punisher...? Captain Punishment...? The result may be someone similar, from what I've ben made to understand, similar to Ultimate Cap... And that would denifitely solve the problems of many Marvel writers these days, who don't seem to be able to write 616 Cap anymore... A "hero" more in tune with current America's values, if we are to believe Marvel...

How about Captain Galactuca... a fusion of Cap and Galactus. He just eats the planet then feels sorry he did.

How many of you guys & (gamma green) dolls have a myspace page, by the way...? Not me. I had some unpleasant experiences years ago after giving out personal info on some message boards. Now I enjoy my relative anonymity.
