This is probably one of my favorite comics and I wanted to know what your guy's opinion is.
I'm not sure what volume it is, but it's the first issue of "Captain America" that started in 2002. It's post-9/11 with Steve Rogers working at the remains of the WTC. Nick Fury gives him his costume and to go to Afgahistan. Cap just continues his work, then saves a man from being mugged because of his ethnicity.
The story beyond this issue kinda meanders into "blah"-ness, but that first issue (I feel) is a highlight of my collection. A better tribute to 9/11 than "Amazing Spider-Man" # 36.

I'm not sure what volume it is, but it's the first issue of "Captain America" that started in 2002. It would help if mighty Marvel were better at tracking volume numbers than it has been in recent years. I don’t have that issue, and I haven’t looked at its indicia, but logically it should be volume 4. (The only issues I have from that volume are the ones written by Kirkman—#29–32—and they lack the volume number.) The volumes are: # | Years | Issues | 1 | 1968–1996 | 100–454 (numbering continued from Tales of Suspense) | 2 | 1996–1997 | 1–13 | 3 | 1997/1998–2002 | 1–50 | 4 | 2002–2004 | 1–32 | 5 | 2004/2005–present | 1–current |
What about his eponymous Golden Age series? My understanding is its full title was Captain America Comics, and so it doesn’t figure into the volumes listed above.

It is Volume 4.
The thing that gets me, as seen on another thread. Is Cap being alive. Never an explanation who he recovered from lack of living.
