That Marvel was going to replace Cap with Bucky. That would be a major change coming out of CW.

The current Marvel administration being what it is, I wouldn't be surprised one bit. It probably would be handled in a on-shot by Bendis titled "Captain America Disfranchised"...

Interesting, I had not heard that one before. Although there has been speculation that Cap will wind up the head of SHIELD, based on Joe Quesada's comments about "a true patriot" heading it up after CW. So perhaps the two are linked.
Personally I would rather not see that happen. I think Brubaker has really revitalized Cap, and even though I was initially against bringing back Bucky, he has turned it into a very engaging storyline. To replace Cap with Bucky/Winter Solider doesn't make a lot of sense, but then again, how many times has Cap been replaced only to return within a year?

I have not read a single word of Cap's solo adventures in years, so excuse my question if it's way off base... But from what I've gathered, Bucky did some pretty unsavory things as the Winter Soldier. Wouldn't this then give Marvel a chance to have a rougher, more cynical, darker Captain America?

But I thought that already had been the deal during the period in which the future US Agent had replaced Cap...

Did you hear this 'rumor' over at CBR? Because I had an argument with someone who believed this very thing. In any case, I've heard virtually nothing to back this up and many things against it. It's always possible, but I'll treat it with all due skepticism for some time. Not least because the Red Skull doesn't implement his plan until issue 25, which is AFTER Civil War, and I highly doubt he'd implement his whole massive evil-scheme against Bucky.

Wouldn´t that self-acting mean that Cap´s side will win CW? I really can´t think that Cap will switch sides (and I think [hope] the coming oneshot IM/Cap: Casualties of War could really bear some fun to read...), so the government side would loose? Hmm...

No I heard this rumor from a friend of mine who may have heard this from CBR. I also have some pencils that Lee Weeks is doing for an upcoming Winter Soldier project but he didn't specify what that project is. For some reason I can't download them here.

I am still getting used to the idea that Bucky is still alive. I didn't dislike the Winter Soldier storyline, but the fact that WS was Bucky was so obvious from the beginning of the story that it wasn't a surprising plot twist and the "mystery" was lost.
While WWI Bucky was a valiant and heroic teen sidekick, they have retroactively made him a highly trained killer/soldier. Lukin has turned him into an assassin. In the real world I grudgingly recognize the need for these types of operatives, but in my mind they have no place in the comic world other than as bad guys. I just can't see celebrating someone who kills for pay.
Part of the strength of Cap is what he stands for as a hero and a symbol. I think too much of that would be lost trading Steve Rogers out for Bucky Barnes.
Cap as the head of SHIELD?: I can't see him as more than a figurehead unless someone wants SHIELD to totally change and go from being a spy network to a peacekeeping force.

Remember not too long ago someone posted a picture of the new Omega Flight and one of the characters in the shadows looked sorta like Cap. Maybe Cap goes to Canada and Bucky takes his place in the US.

Or perhaps it's the other way around? If you were now around 80 years old, would you still want to be called "Bucky"?
