Somewhat Avengers related because the story revolves partially around the idea of the Superhuman Registration act, and the cast seems poised to come into conflict with pro-reg heroes eventually.
I grabbed it and liked it. The main point I'll look at is Darkhawk my favorite Marvel hero and the reason I got this book at all. His look is pre-space Darkhawk, as are his powers other than flight as apposed to just gliding. His character development has also shot back to the same era as he's impulsive and a bit cocky as much as he is well intentioned. As apposed to the Avengers ready, leader of the future type persona that was implied to be taken on after the end of the series (and in some mini's apparently, haven't picked those up yet).
Most would be mad they ignored half a series's worth of character development, but not me, I didn't like that half, they brought in the Darkhawk I know and absolutely love.
Richochet is also very cool from his Spiderman under the mask days and his Runaways appearances (Never read Slingers).
A good read if your into Runaways, it splits from their appearance there partially, and has that same grounded look of the MU that Runaways did (or at least it has so far).

If an SHRA connection makes a comic significantly “somewhat Avengers related”, then just about every Marvel Universe comic in current continuity qualifies. I’d say the fact that one of the Loners is a former Avenger is a stronger Avengers connection…but, in my opinion, this is still not an Avengers-family series. Of course, it’s possible that the Avengers will figure strongly in some issues. None of the characters are sentimental favorites of mine, but I’m interested enough in the idea of the group that I’ll probably keep looking for it at my friendly neighborhood comic shop.

I could never get a copy of the Darkhawk/West Coast Avengers stuff, was it any good by chance?
