this is the more positive sequel to my 'dropped title' thread.
What titles are you clinging onto for dear life?
I'm keeping;
Black Panther Captain America Iron Man
Titles on the bubble are
New Avengers (I still have hope) Thunderbolts (I want to see more redemption)

None (For now, even though Doom gave me food for thought on that other thread... I'm thinking it over...).

Books I'm Keeping (as in reading now):
From Marvel: The Dark Tower: Gunslinger Born New Avengers Mighty Avengers Uncanny X-Men X-Men Astonishing X-Men Wolverine Origins Amazing Spider-Man (at least until JMS leaves)
From DC: All-Star Superman
On the bubble/Just for now: Wolverine (until Loeb leaves - even though it's not that great of a story as it is) Avengers: The Intiative (wasn't impressed by the first issue, but I'll give it an arch or two until I make my decision) Fallen Son (the first issue was kinda blah, but I'm willing to give the rest of the series a shot - maybe)
Now, in addition to these titles, I'm also picking up Fables, Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimates, and Y: The Last Man for a buddy of mine who is in Law School. I bet him that if he got in, I would buy his comics (as he can't work while in LS). So I'm reading some of these every now and then.
Also, I pick the Ultimate Spider-Man trades as they come out. I'll be picking up the Intiative trades when they start coming out. On top of this, I'll also be hoping onto some of the World War Hulk titles (not all of them, though I can't garuntee that - I may just get suckered in). Also, with the X-Men event starting up, I'll be picking up New X-Men and X-Factor.
Every now and then, I find something my fiancee might enjoy, so I'll pick something up for her.

W, I'm a big King fan. Are they doing Gunslinger justice?

Amazing Spider-Man until JMS leaves. I got the X-Men book Brubaker wrote to see if I agree with other folks' high opinions of him, but have not read it yet. A bunch of DC books. For my money, right now, they're making the superior product.

My Keepers Marvel Runaways(Vaughn's out which is bad, but I think Whedon can fill in, his recomendation was what started me onto the series in the first place)
New Avengers (We'll see where this is going till the next story at least)
New Xmen(It just gets better and better, the new team, all the classic stories with a twist, I hope they keep the roster the same for a long time)
Astonishing X-men (I think there's a good plot twist comming up so I'll stick around. The New Helfire club was a blast, but this spacetrip has been iffy so far)
Exiles (My Favorite Book without a doubt, I thought it might slow down after they unmasked the timebroker, but its only gotten better and better)
Most of Ultimate Marvel(Best Spiderman, fresher xmen stories, Ultimates is beautiful and fun to read, Ultimate FF has interesting running storylines, but its kinda on the bubble, but I'll get all of Ultimate Power)
X-men (This ones on the bubble, I don't know how much I like where It's been going lately)
Various LS(Getting the Last Eternals was good, some other stuff that slips my mind right now)
Keepers DC 52 (Has my favorite momment in comics 2007)
All Star Batman and Robin (if they ever release anymore)
Throwaway Marvel Irredemable Antman(Just couldn't get interested in this series)
Uncanny X-men (too many xbooks, not enough good ideas)
Throwaway DC None (Not a lot of DC titles lately)
New Marvel Iron Man(Have all of V2, all of V3 till the last 10 and then stoped, decided to jump back on now that Stark is the Director of Shield, I think this has a lot of potential)
Mighty Avengers(Giving it a try, but other than Iron man and Ms Marvel, I don't like the rest of the lineup, but a Tigra guest appearance keeps me hopeful. Sentry would be better if he didn't have the personality of a cardboard box)
Thunderbolts(I used to collect em back before, but the new run didn't perk my interest until I saw Venom and Bullseye forced into the lineup, Badboys on a short leash, this new Suicide Sqaud style take should be interesting)
Avengers: The Innitiative (I guess I'll see where this one goes for a while, it has some characters that perk my interest, and the premise has potential)
New DC None
Other Adds Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 (Whedon continueing the story from the TV series is a can't pass up for me) Inu Yasha (The end of the anime series didn't sit well with me so I'm going to read these badboys)
I'll probably continue all of these till the end of their story arcs, and see where things stand.

None. I can walk away from Marvel now, no problems. I don't have any interest in DC. I've probably read like two DC comics in my life. I suppose I could check into the indy brands to see what's out there, but really my loyalty is to Marvel's characters, if not what's happening with them at the moment. I guess the only alternative is to write and illustrate my own comic...

Bah, typical Balok. You pick the second best writer at Marvel and then pick his WORST book. Cap, Daredevil and Iron Fist are all much, much better than Uncanny.
Whooh boy, right, let me go:
DC:
-The Flash: Fastest Man Alive
May Try: -Will try Countdown for a few issues when released. -Am thinking of picking up Shadowpact since I liked Day of Vengeance. Probably this week actually. - JLA, but ONLY when Meltzer is gone and his name wiped from the records!
MARVEL:
-Iron Man: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D -Captain America -New Avengers -Mighty Avengers -Avengers: The Initative -Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America -Fantastic Four -Black Panther (For as long as they are in the FF) -Amazing Spider-Man -Thunderbolts -Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man -The Ultimates
...Probably more which I've forgotten
Testing Out:
-Ms Marvel -Nova -Punisher: War Journal -Moon Knight
Will Try: -Avengers: Classic when it is released -The Champions when it is released -New Warriors when it is released -Irredeemable Ant-Man during the WWH crossover!
...Think that's all right now though. I may have left something out.

So comics here arrive on Thursdays, which is why you'll never see me post about them before a Thursday evening over here.

Looking at Dooms list, I seem to remember someone calling ME Bendis' dream buyer. Since Doom has all that free cash we can all go stay with him when we visit Ireland.

HAH! Good one, Nutcase. To be fair, how am I Bendis' dream buyer? I buy two of his titles a month, do not buy nor have any inclination to buy Powers or USM, even though I enjoy USM well enough. In any case, what can I say really? I buy what I enjoy, Ireland has less taxes/fees on certain usually-expensive things, and with the career I'm pursuing, money isn't TOO much of an issue PS: Out of curiosity, you guys gonna pick up WWH? You know your least favourite writers all hate it- indeed, as I recall Bendis, Millar and Bryan Hitch basically developed Civil War as an initial idea because they didn't like the pitch for WWH, which was originally going to be Marvel's big 2006 event!

Plus, he has the undesirable trait for a host of, occasionally (on a whim) insisting that you remain in the castle indefinitely...

I know what you said Bongster, I was just de-pottyfying the statement Doom, I posted on another thread, but I don't hink I'll be picking up WWH. My wife has this thing about me paying the mortgage. I'm just gonna steal it from my friend when he's done.

Bah, typical Balok. You pick the second best writer at Marvel and then pick his WORST book. Cap, Daredevil and Iron Fist are all much, much better than Uncanny. I guess I'll have to take your word for it that the man can write - no, wait, no I don't. Uncanny was better than it was when I last bought it over a year ago, but that's like saying getting stabbed in the arm is better than getting stabbed in the eye. While technically true, I'd really rather go for (c) neither. I had the advantage of actually knowing who most of the characters were from years of association with the X-Men. Except for Vulcan. I guess when Marvel needs a new mutant they just "find" another Summers boy. Absent that (i.e. if I were a new reader), I'd have found the the book a hopelessly confused muddle. With that knowledge, I was at least able to follow the plot, but I guess I needed to read all the previous issues to understand why Vulcan did what he did. As to whether Cap is better? Well, Brubaker's decision to murder Cap before he even had a chance to present his anti-reg arguments in court is what convinced me to largely kick Marvel to the curb. It was like they were saying, "and we don't even want to HEAR about any dissenting ideas, 'cause we know we're right, all the time, about everything!" So there's no chance I'll get that book. Brubaker seems to be a serviceable writer, but not so spectacular that I feel any great need to seek out his work. I'll agree with you, Doom, that's he's near the top echelon of Marvel talent these days, but that's not a compliment. I hope to high heaven it isn't Millar you think occupies the top slot, but I fear it is. Millar was fine when confined to the Ultimates universe, but he's not good at long established characters, because he wants to rewrite them so they're like their cynical, manipulative, Ultimate counterparts. He also doesn't seem to understand America very well. I don't write about Scotland because I know little about it (although I'd like to visit it one day). I wish Millar would return the favor.

Afraid you're right there Balok, to my mind Millar is the best comic book writer in the last ten years or so though Brubaker and Waid vie for second place.
It's also not like it's my word alone, I don't know a single website which advocates Uncanny for Brubaker over the others, Hell I've never even heard a single fan say that. But don't worry, I'm sure it all fits into your greater plan by selecting the worst book of one of the best writers so you can downplay them.

When I go to the comic shop Friday, I'll get EMH II #8, which will finish that out. Justice #11 comes out this week, so I'll have one issue to go there. Supergirl and the Legion comes out -- ongoing. I am waiting on Ultimates 2 #13, and that will conclude. So, in about 2-3 weeks I will be getting one regular title and to be honest, it's not truly good enough that I feel I have to have it.
I could be new-comicless for the first time since 1980-84!!!
