Until yesterday I thought Jim Shooter a "true villain". But then, I did only know statements from guys like Steve Englehart or John Byrne. Byrne said something like he ended his FF run, because the Editor-In-Chief(?) interfered with his stories (so far as I know about that). And as Byrne´s run is awesome, I thought Shooter should not have interfered... But now I read this interview: www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=186 and do not think anymore, Shooter was that a bad guy. Can´t say anything about the interference with Byrne´s stories, but the reason Shooter mentions for interfering with the Spidey story I can understand. And then, the way Shooter describes it, at least the "good" writers/artists did earn good money - I would say not a bad thing, hey? So, what do you think about Shooter?

Many artist complain that Shooter is a control freak and interfered too much with other comic book creators' work, but under Shooter Marvel had a new 'golden Age' (in the late 70´s - early 80´s) both in terms of sales and quality. And he is IMO one of the best Avengers writers ever, the one that could write good characterization AND action, balanced with 'crazy' superhero stuff and a bit of realism.
