Bought it, read it right away. Somewhat disappointed. But, maybe that's because it had been so long since the previous issue (which I had not taken the time to re-read), and also because on an Internet sales site today I saw issue #12 billed as the conclusion. So, as I was reading it I was a little confused as to how, even though it is a larger than normal issue, Millar was going to get this all wrapped up by the end of the book. As I approached the end, it became obvious that there would be a #13 (great, another 2-month wait ). The cover is beautiful -- it would make a worthy poster. The interiors are top-notch as well; what we've come to expect from Hitch. Each Ultimate has their moment in the sun (OK, maybe not Hawkeye), and Ultimate Quicksilver becomes very reminiscent of the Flash. Cap is at his butt-kicking best, and the Hulk is simply brutal -- almost too much for my tastes... The story is quick-paced and does show that it should be all tied up with the next issue. Overall a decent read, but somewhat of a letdown compared to what I anticipated. But again, maybe that's my fault because I didn't "prep" myself to read it, and I'd gotten a little misinformation. Other thoughts?

I too was slightly disappointed. I thought the previous issue was great, and it built a huge sense of anticipation for me. I may have expected too much. I really did enjoy Quicksilver's part, which is probably the first time in all my years of reading I can say that. Hulk was good, although I expected to see more of his fight with Abomination. All in all, seemed like they were trying to cram too much into one issue. And yes, the thought of waiting months for the next one is excruciating.

I thought it was humorous that Quicksilver's seeming sister-fixation was addressed in the heat of battle. Kind of just served to tick him off, ya think?

I loved it! I just read Ultimates 12, and thought it kicked AZZ!! I loved how Quicksilver was presented, the Wasp too! I wish Wanda had done more, but you know... so what. I do have two questions--why are the X-Men on the cover? And what happened at the end with Captain America's shield? I looked at those pages three times and I'm still not sure what happened. Am I retarded?

Cool, we can be retarded together. Can anyone help us on this matter?
I loved the action in this issue--I was starting to think Marvel was incapable of actually creating a fight scene these days

It was my impression when I read it that Hulk threw the shield. Amazing the aim he had, given how long Cap has trained for such a maneuver...
I think the wraparound cover with all of the Ulitmate heroes on it also threw me in regard to the series ending...

Yeah--if the Hulk threw it, that'd be kinda dumb. Allah forgive me for disparaging my beloved Mark Miller. AND I thought punching through the Abominations head was a little, ohhh, over the top.
You know Captain America isn't very likeable in this series, is he?

There's a whole lot of John Wayne in this Steve Rogers. Sometimes I like his no-nonsense approach, other times I just remind myself that this is the Cap of the Ultimate universe and accept it. While I did think the butt-kicking he administered to Hank Pym was fine, his battles with the aliens and now the Super Soldiers were a little rough. A far cry from the Cap who doesn't cross the line in the Marvel Universe.
I, too, found the Abomination scene to be too much. Really not necessary -- could have been handled just as well off-camera.

When Miller was doing the Authority, he always had people punching through peoples' jaws and heads.

I just picked up the run of Ultimates 2 at my local shop for $40(save #13) and thought it was very cool. i liked the first series and am still getting used to Nick Fury as a brother! Spittin' image of Samuel L Jackson to boot! Both runs have been cool and this way i don't have to wait too long for issue #13. Who knew Hawkeye was uch a badass!?! Plucking his own fingernails and flinging'em. Awesome!
