Tonight, as I was reading the lettercol in the latest issue of Robert Kirkman’s Invincible (#41), I happened across a reference to a New Avengers issue that Kirkman wrote for the US Armed Forces. My reaction was, “Huh?!??”Apparently, over the last couple of years, Marvel has produced four out-of-continuity New Avengers issues for free distribution in PXs and BXs (post/base exchanges) throughout the world! A quick search of the Web turned up an American Forces Press Service article about the fourth issue, a brief profile of the series on a Spider-Man fan site, and many other pages. Although the issues are marked “not for resale”, you can find them on eBay. Besides the Avengers, other Marvel heroes such as the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Silver Surfer appear in the stories. I had no idea this was going on. How about that!

Doom, this is an ethno-centric post. You're not supposed to support that kind of thing.
