Newsarama has posted a six-page preview of NA #30, plus cover and text recap page. My favorite lines seem to channel the readership’s—or former readership’s—thoughts: The same Newsarama page also previews Thunderbolts #114, Nova #2 (with Iron Man), and Punisher War Journal #7.

Well, at least it looks like they're gonna start wrapping up that whole 'rotten at SHIELD' thing.
Also it's good to see an Iron Man who doesn't seem to be smirking or even rubbing it in. I think he genuinely wants them back in order for them to be heroes again.
Also very, very, very glad that they didn't try to pass Brother poopoo off as being as strong as Strange.

So to summarize: I'm still not missing this title. Cold turkey was the best way to go, and I've had no withdrawal symptoms. No shakes, no sweats... less stress, though

If #30 doesn't turn it around, I guess I'm gonna have to get on the wagon with you DLW. But I still hold on to hope.

All I can think of is... if Luke's right and some villain's hand has been in this the whole time, Doctor Doom's brain will melt... These pages were okay. They won't bring me back in, but they weren't awful. I'm still satisfied that I dropped this turkey. The art made me realize what vampires see when someone waves a cross at them. I liked the comment, "Heroes fighting heroes. What are the criminals doing?" Well, Jerry, one of them is running SHIELD and another is running the Initiative!

THis subplot has to wind down. i have no idea whether Bendis has multiple personality disorder or something because this Iron Man is totally in-line with "The Confession" but wildly different from the previous issue or two of New Avengers!

You're telling me you wouldn't feel a little betrayed if Marvel revealed that all of this - the Civil War and the Initiative - was the work of a villain? It would basically undermine every reason you had for supporting it. I don't think that will happen, because I think Marvel thinks this new world order is a good thing - it brings in new readers to replace the older ones it alienates, and companies generally prefer younger purchasers, all other things being equal. But it's fun to imagine! i have no idea whether Bendis has multiple personality disorder or something because this Iron Man is totally in-line with "The Confession" but wildly different from the previous issue or two of New Avengers! That would be the whole "not a good writer" think that most of us, including yourself, have commented on at one time or another...

It would basically undermine every reason you had for supporting it. Well no, not really. I mean, they're saying someone may have done some orchestrating which makes sense. As long as their number one aim wasn't making the Initiative, as long as they didn't brainwash Tony Stark or whatever, I don't see it as a major thing. That would be the whole "not a good writer" think that most of us, including yourself, have commented on at one time or another... Even so, I must question if he personally thinks it's the same guy!

Hang on. A couple of things.
Is that the actual cover art? The experimental, black and white line drawing that used to be called "sketching"?
And in the recap: "While in disguise as Ronin, the mysterious ninja, Maya is violently killed by Elektra, the current leader of the Hand. But Elektra brings Maya back to life using Ancient Hand Magics"
And my personal favourite. Iron Man realises that Dr Strange is involved so he sends for...Brother Voodoo?
Geez, they're not even trying anymore, are they?
Nope, definitely not missing it.

Oh yeah. The mysterious villain who's pulling all the strings? The teenage Tony Stark!!!
Think about it: illogical, impossible and it ties into the other dark period in Avengers writing.

I like the dialogue though. You think Stark talking to the Avengers is Bendis talking to us? And did you see the Starbucks sign? Is Bendis ripping off the Simpsons now?
