Bendis has a post-HoM interview up at Newsarama, where he said - among other things:
I also thought it was interesting that no one’s deepest desire was that the Avengers were back together. No one fixed the mansion. It’s still a wreck.
Given that Bendis was the writer who destroyed the Avengers, I found it interesting that he's saying that the characters didn't have that as their desire, when he's the guy who defined those desires. He didn't want Wonder Man's biggest desire to be the Avengers re-created, no problem - but he could just as easily written it in.
That the Avengers reformed would have been a major impediment to Magneto, in the same category that a live Professor X was, is problematic, and would have been a much more plausable thing.
But it really sounds like he's blaming the characters, when he's the one who defined what they decided they wanted was...
