You know, it's been said that you can't change the world, but you can change one person at a time and I feel the same way about the Avengers' (& Marvel's in general) readership... Yes, it's true: if only Doom stops buying NA it won't have any effect... if only tananile stops, same thing... if only Balok, or bobc do it... same thing...! But if ENOUGH like-minded people around this country (& beyond) stop giving money in exchange for crap I, for one, believe it would have an effect... and I'm not ready to accept just yet that there aren't a lot of people who honestly feel that way... but many of them keep soldiering on out of boredom or because they're hopeless completists... and then, there's also those others who still think that if we only are a little more patient, if we wait a little bit longer, why, then, Bendis will bedazzle us with his genius.... Now if, on the other hand, you're like thew40 and you honestly like it then, by all means, God bless, stick to your guns & more power to ya, brother...!

Is the Avengers fighting Ninjas that different that the Avengers fighting Ultroids? Or even the Mandroids? I'm not saying those were good, or even passable ideas but its not like Bendis introduced lame opponents. At least some of that blame has to go to comic history.
So I guess my point is that its lame but not original. I'm not sure if that was my intention before I posted that but whatever.

They're Ninja, guys in pajamas with swords. Ok, highly trained guys in pajama's with swords, but still. Any one of the Avengers should have been able to fight off that attack. Ultroids and Mandroids are designed to take on super powers. So yes, there is a difference.
BTW I looked up Ultroid on the web, turns out it's also a hemorrhoid treatment, heh.
Of course there's always the lucky shot . Anyone remember the time Wanda got winged by a henchman during the Serpent Crown affair?

Ninjas at this point are a gimmick, a fad. They were original and cool in the 80's in their correct place, namely Daredevil. The whole point of the Avengers, for the past 40 years, has been to put together superheroes to fight big threats that someone like Daredevil couldn't handle.
The Mandroids, despite the craptastic name, really were low level Sentinels who gave Iron Man and Captain America a run for their money. I don't see the ninja analogy at all.

Ninjas have been acceptable once in all my reading time outside Daredevil, and that was a story with Daredevil IN IT. (Wolverine: Enemy of the State btw)

I was going for big groups of easy to beat opponents, but I was only trying to make discussion. All the big groups I can think of were superior to Ninjas in every way.
The big ninja groups should have been beaten as easy as the thousands of faceless soldier for hire the Avengers have smashed over the years.

I have figured out why the Avengers keep fighting ninjas. Marvel has bought the rights to The Tick and he will be joining the New Avengers. He'll be a great addition because he's nigh-invulnerable.
and he knows that ninjas are wacky

I noticed the start date on this thread -- October, 2005. A year and a half gone by, and we're back on ninjas. For several issues, no less. Just sayin'.

You ever hear that "I am Ninja!" song? Maybe Bendis listens to that while he writes. It's really catchy.

I've been buying back issues of Black Panther. They came today with my New Avengers.
I read Black Panther 10 and 11,.... ninjas I read New Avengers,... ninjas I go to the door to talk to the Jehovahs Witness',... ninjas I try to take a nap,... ninjas
Where is the Tick when you need him?
Actual line from Black Panther #10 "Watch where you are throwing those ninjas"
