Is anyone reading this? Anyone at all?
Okay, basically what it is is... well, "Crossover", I guess, but between two titles: Green Lantern and GReen Lantern Corps. (Which have pretty indisputable reason to cross over.) But even then, each book is telling a story which can be read only (Yes, it's not just hyperbole) while still interconnecting quite cleverly. It takes the format of a special followed by 5 issues of GL and 5 issues of GLC (Though again, each can be read alone). There's also some supplementary specials, but it's hardly budget straining. It's also not out of the blue, as it has been built up to and hinted at for almost a year in the comics.
More importantly, it's absolutely awesome. Bearing in mind I don't normally read Green Lantern and picked up the special as a reprint out of curiosity for the insanely good feedback online, and they're right; the Sinestro Corps special is my second favourite DC comic ever. It's insane, it's action packed, it's full of character moments and set-up, while never letting go a breakneck pace and revelation after revelation, ending with my single favourite cliffhanger comic ending since Civil War #3.
The story is relatively simple: Sinestro, arch enemy of the Lanterns, has created his own corps to deal with the Lanterns, using the old Lantern nemesis colour, yellow. Only they're insane, they're willing to kill, and are led by the single greatest group of badasses and uber-powerful villains the DCU has ever known/
Like Sinestro? I didn't, hear he's genuinely terrifying. Read GL? I don't, never have, I'm caught up fine.
I know I'm ranting but the awesomeness overwhelms me. This... this single handedly redeems Countdown. This is- if the remaining chapters are anything like the 4 so far, this is going to be among my favourite comic stories ever.
I know no one hear reads it but... DO! If you like good comics, DO! If you like big set-pieces, DO! If you like GL, HELL DO! If you want to enjoy yourself, READ IT!
...God I love this story...

Somehow I'm under the slight impression that you are enjoying the book ;D
Wasn't the yellow weakness gone long ago, with Kyle Ryner ?

The colour yellow, yes. But green is the colour of willpower (and hence, the GReen Lantern corps.) Yellow is the colour of fear- hence the yellow power rings seek out beings with the ability to inspire great fear. They can do anything a Lantern can do, except they can kill, and they don't have to be spread out 2 to a sector. Plus they're led by four people who could pretty much take on the GReen Lantern corps themselves and win. One of whom HAS, in fact, and one of whom could do so in his sleep. ...It's possible I'm enjoying it, yes

I'm still screaming in my head about missing Green Lantern this week. This event is the best thing I've read in comics in a very long time, and maybe ever.
If my comics budget this week wasn't zero I'd be all over this even more. As it is I might have to sneak away and spend money I don't really have to get the last few issues. Its good enough that I even want all the tie-ins.
If Sinestro goes back to his status quo and the Sinestro Corps disappears after the event I'll be seriously angry. Sinestro has NEVER been this awesome. I actually want to see Sinestro vs. the other big heroes in the DCU.

Yup, this has been a fun read. Lots of great action, cool character bits, and absolutely gorgeous art. Johns has managed to take a villain - Sinestro -whom I never found interesting and turned him into a serious threat. I like the way we have had the members of the Sinestro corps introduced to us, and it really feels very old school to me. I'm still laughing over one of the yellow rings selecting Batman since he can instill fear!

One thing I want to see is more of those "Tales of the Sinestro Corps" we had in the special for the big S himself. I know there are specials coming for the other big bads but some of the supporting Sinestro Corps members intrigue me- particularly the big Anti-Kilowog brute, the psycho woman and the awesome little insect sniper.

Wow are we all agreeing that a comic is amazing. The Sinestro Corp storyline, is one of the best comics out there right now. I put the next part of that story on the top of my reading pile whenever I get it in. Of course I am a big Green Lantern fan anyway, so this is just more frosting on my cake.

I'm glad to read that the DCU is finally giving Sinestro his due... like many DC villians he has needed a good makeover to make his character far more interesting. A Sinestro corps sounds fantastic, and I like the return of the yellow weakness in this fashion.
Some of the older DC stories had the silliest uses of the yellow weakness to give Lantern trouble, so the idea that you have to overcome the yellow with superior willpower is a great twist.
Obviously, someone took the Sith/Jedi concept and applied it to the GL universe, which is quite appealling.

Man, just finished reading GL #22 and all I can say is... gimme # 23 NOW!!!!!! I've been away from this site for a while cuz i broke up with my girl and she had a computer, not me but things change and i am now a proud owner of a new Macbook so let the posts begin!
GL has been one of the few bright spots in my world of comics lately. GL(Hal Jordan) has always been one of my faves since I was a little kid and it's cool to see that his book is kickin'ass story wise. seeing that two page splash where they are storming into Qward to help GL "THAT the GREEN LANTERN CORPS don't do" was just awesome!
Heh, Stupid Earth

Certainly the best thing DC is putting out right now, and the artwork by Reis in GL 23 is just fantastic. I've been disappointed with DC for almost a year now; they seem to have lost the fire they had going during Infinite Crisis. But between this storyline, the first story arc in Brave and Bold, and Dwayne McDuffie taking over JLA, I see some hope.

DC lost all their fire at the last issue or two of Infinite Crisis; one year later was awful and the only good thing for some time was 52.
But the prospects are improving; Countdown has levelled out and become, if not good, at least slightly below average, Flash is in great hands again, I think (though it's early days) I officially love Dwayne McDuffie's JLA, and then... there's Sinestro Corps. Plus Morrison on FInal Crisis should be great.
...Did I mention I want to marry this story? This is honestly one ofg the best comic sagas I have ever read? On an awesometer, it's what Civil War would have been without the crappy tie-ins.

...Did I mention I want to marry this story? May I recommend you get Immortus to officiate? He’ll solemnize just about any marriage. If you want to get hitched to a glowing corpse animated by a tree or wed a glorified toaster, Immortus is your man!

This story ended yesterday with a comic which is so indescribably awesome I may need to seek out Immortus in order to make arrangements, as Phantom suggested. Point is, if you didn't buy it... do. It has me on Green Lantern until Johns is gone, and it's being called- though I don't have enough experience to even come CLOSE to judging- one of the greatest Green Lantern stories ever. I'll settle for just one of the best STORIES I've ever read.

This has been an excellent read all the way through. I thought that Sinestro's true motivation for all he had done made perfect sense. It makes him a layered character instead of a caricature. This series has also had some of the finest art in recent memory.
