This is SHOCKING to me.........mostly I'm shocked that ANYONE still reads/buys Bendis' garbage!!!!! I know, I promised YEARS ago never to utter He-Who-Ruins-the-Marvel-Universe's name ever again..... but I think a little Bendis hate (and bashing) would be great to enliven these sleepy boards again! What say the other Assemblers??? How has your life been better since you gave up Bendis? Who remembers the good old days of Bendis-bashing (and Bendis-defending, for some)

I found it amusing considering the fans of GotG are saying the exact same thing we were when the big B took over Avengers. Funny thing to add, been watching youtube alot lately, especially comics stuff and I hadn't realized how reviled Spidermans One More Day storyline is. By everyone. As in the worst thing Marvel has ever done.

Abnett/Lanning's Guardians series was probably my favorite comic series since I re-started my collecting @2005......I think it was a real d!ck move for Marvel to give the franchise over to Bendis (boo!) right before the movie took off.......I'm not sure if there's more to the story though???, questions like, why was the first series even cancelled, and why weren't Abnett/Lanning writing the reboot???

I read maybe the first seven issues of the Abnett/Lanning series and they were quite good. Not the Guardians I grew up with though. Didn't really care for the hillbilly with a metal mohawk Yondu in the movie. One question, I didn't think the retooling of Drax was explained very well. Did they ever expand on what happened to him to cause such a drastic change?

I like this quote from one of the GOTG fans:
"It's like if I tried to write a sequel to No Country For Old Men without actually watching the film."
I hate to tell the fan this, but everything Bendis writes is as if nothing came before him. He ignores continuity, IMO, because he thinks he's so much better than all the writers before him that he just throws their work into the garbage. The arrogance is just unbelievable. I wised up and stopped buying New Avengers very early on (when B was on it) but somebody on this forum told me that Hawkeyes just comes back as some z lister who suddenly fights with swords. Is that supposed to be intriguing? I think it sucks, and I think Bendis sucks. If I hear one more person say "But didn't you see his Daredevil run?" I will hurl myself from the nearest sky scraper! As if that one storyline makes the next two decades of garbage good. I think he is the worst thing that ever happened to Marvel. By far.

I'm always up for some Bendis bashing. I started collecting comics again for the first time in over 15 years back in 2008. The very first titles I dropped were the two Bendis Avengers titles, Mighty and New. They were just awful-soooo boring. I didn't even realize at that point that he'd wrecked the Avengers, so I didn't really have an anti-Bendis bias at that point. Bendis is basically the Anti-Christ to any true Avenger fan (meaning anyone who shares my opinion).
OK, Bendis can write good dialogue, or at least realistic sounding dialogue, but he tends to ignore previous characterization and previous comics history. He should probably write screenplays or TV shows instead, where he can just write dialogue and not worry about wrecking previous continuity.

Yeah, Bendis has the WORST sense of characterization I've ever witnessed......Every Avenger on his first New Avengers run sounded like a snarky Spider-man.......because we all know Iron Fist and Ms. Marvel were always the smart-alec jokesters of the Marvel Universe, right??? <<<<(EXTREME SARCASM)>>>>
I liked bobc's quote....I always REALLY wondered if Bendis had ever read an Avengers comic book before he started writing the comics!!!

I had already stopped collecting in the mid 90's mostly for financial reasons. I was almost getting back into things with the hard cover of Busiek's and Perez's run. Then Amazon recommended Avengers Disassembled. That ended any thoughts of continuing. I was not going to shell out that much money ( I think half my comics have 'Still $.25!' stamped on them )for the total lack of cohesion and lazy writing he brought to my favorite team.

Man, I REALLY wish Marvel or DC was producing a comic HALF as good as Busiek/Perez' Avengers run was!
The last Avengers book I bought monthly was Remender's Uncanny Avengers, but it turned into some alternate-reality mumbo-jumbo that had little to do with a cohesive Avengers team,.....the reboot comes out this month (starting over at #1, of course) but it looks like more alternate-reality crap that has little resemblance to the Avengers (I think Sabretooth is a member, wtf?).
Here's hoping they do SOMETHING right with the new STAR WARS comic!

BTW, the TV show AGENT CARTER features a flesh-and-blood JARVIS character, and the actor does a pretty nice job with the role!!!
