Remender talks about upcoming eventThis October, Marvel starts their other big fall event with AXIS, a 9 issue mini written by Remender, dealing with an Avengers/X-Men team-up. This story spins directly out of Uncanny Avengers as our heroes will confront the menace of Red Skull Onslaught. Now, I'm more excited over this event than Time Runs Out. Remender has yet to disappoint on UA. With all the recent plots about the Twins and Kang, it's easy to forget that UA started over Red Skull acquiring Xavier's telepathic powers. Now, he's been quietly building his power base in the wreckage of Genosha. Part of the reasoning behind the Twins' motivations has been their foreknowledge of what is to come under the Red Onslaught's regime. The villain cast may be as expansive as the hero cast but I can't wait to see what Remender has in store for this.

Remender and Brevoort discuss Inversion, the second act of AXISI'm still looking forward to this event but interviews such as this can be frustrating. They're trying to build hype, which is fine, but also while not trying to spoil anything. This leads to some amount of confusion which I had upon first reading this. Without knowing the full context of the story in which this occurs, it's hard to form any real opinions or judgements. For example, with no prior context, Superior Iron Man sounds like a step backward to me, especially in light of Gillen's recent excellent run. In his first story arc, Gillen had Tony searching for and destroying all consumer products and versions of Extremis yet now Tony is going to sell his own version? If this was Bendis, I'd be worried but Remender has earned my trust and respect so far, so I'm hoping this will be explained satisfactorily.
