I intend on reading this issue (and title) but sadly, must wait till next week before I can do so (the joys of being paid bi-weekly). I haven't read all that much of Remeder but have heard good things about him. Always liked Cassaday's work though. So, if anyone else has read it, give your thoughts here. Just try not to spoil it too much for me

For me, issue 1 was very good. Might be a fluke, might be a sign of things to come, but I liked what I saw. Except the new costumes, those are ugly.

Yeah, Cassaday really flared up the chain mail on Cap's costume. Made it look bulky and ugly. The wait is almost over, only a couple more days.

The chain mail is the least, Cap now has knee pads, like a rugby player, and brown leather strips to hold his helmet in place At least he still has his wings though.

I wish that they would just get it over with, and draw the d**n Avengers movie costume, instead of gradually sneaking towards it. Clearly they have more faith in the film and it's costume designers than they do in Jack Kirby and Joe Simon, who after all, only created characters published continuously for five or six decades. I really loved the film, but Marvel is so prone to let the tail wag the dog in these matters that it's not even funny anymore. As to the book, I suppose at least it's not Bendis, but I was not hugely impressed. It was not terrible, though I cannot say Cassaday blew me away, and I'm normally a fan of his work. Maybe the stupid costumes did it, or the awful Thor "latte" "joke" line. Plus I still have zero interest in the X-men whining about how unfair it is to live rent free in a big mansion without ever having to work a day in their lives, and how this somehow equates them to Rosa Parks. So the premise leaves me cold. It's still not Bendis though, so there is that going for it....

Ah, the joys of fall, the leaves changing to golden hues, to cooler temperatures that lead to annoying sinus colds, yay!
Anyway, finally got around to reading #1. Overall, I did enjoy it. A brief intro though, as Alex was more a bystander than leading any team.
I have yet to read anything related to Young Avengers or Children's Crusade so I don't know about this new attitude or outlook of Wanda's. Though I really can't blame Rogue for punching her for those remarks of hers.
Odd seeing Logan give Xavier's eulogy. Speaking of abandoning Xavier's Dream, yes, Logan, leading two separate death squads counts as abandoning such.
Cassaday's art looked good though there were some rocky spots. Don't like Havok's new costume though really didn't see a good enough look at it. But to me, looks like he just added the head fins to Cyclop's rubber suit.
Loved Wanda's bored look in that one close-up shot. Perfectly captured the tone of her indifference.
Wicked ending. A tad more visceral than I prefer though. Liked it enough to come back next month.

Odd seeing Logan give Xavier's eulogy. Speaking of abandoning Xavier's Dream, yes, Logan, leading two separate death squads counts as abandoning such. I disagree. Logan is the one who re-opened Xavier's school so that kids wouldn't have to be "death squads," like Cyclops kinda wanted. Logan has been the one who returned the X-Men to the roots of Xavier's mission.

True, but Cyclops is not the sole person to blame for faltering on the dream. Logan has his share of blame for the activities he has been party to as well. This may have lead to their Schism, but it's nice seeing Logan accept some measure of responsibility for his actions.

I'm happy to see him back, has always been one of my favorites. Unsure over this new outlook/attitude they have planned for him, but willing to see where it goes.
Sunfire is an interesting addition as well. I've always thought he had vast untapped potential, both story-wise and character-wise. Admired his sense of patriotism over serving some dream or ideal. Plus, he also provides a Japanese and samurai connection for Logan, which is one of the few facets of Wolverine I still like.
