Good grief-- I get the subscription, receive one issue, and included in the package is the ol' "We're really sorry, but this is the last issue of this title. . . and we're transferring the balance of your subscription to SECRET AVENGERS. Enjoy!"
Grnngh! I'll switch to another title, 'cause otherwise I'm gonna be getting Secret Avengers for the next 30 years or so. . . it seems to be their go-to cancellation-switch title. . .
H & M wasn't a bad title at all-- it just wasn't a knockout, either. An enjoyable middling read with pretty good art. But this has never been an industry to tolerate slow-starting titles. . . and I imagine that's exponentially more the case today, where something is either a huge, smash hit, or it's an abject, failing disaster.
So, any thoughts on the status of the huge wave of Avengers-centric books?
THUNDERBOLTS- gone.
HAWK/MOCK- gone.
AVENGERS PRIME- great mini-series, ending all-to-soon.
CHILDREN'S CRUSADE- pretty good limited series, but really slow schedule.
SECRET AVENGERS- possibly the next to go? Hard to say, 'cause there are folks here who are clearly enjoying it.
AVENGERS ACADEMY- great book, BUT-- it's still not being offered to subscribers. Bad sign.
AVENGERS- is just not good on any level. But it's the "flagship" book. Anyone know what it's current readership is?
NEW AVENGERS- at least has some fairly interesting stuff happening, and is the personal baby of BMB, so I imagine it would be the last title standing, regardless of relative sales.
I don't know-- will the Avengers brand survive to the opening of it's own movie?? Am I a habitual doom-sayer?? (My artistic director accused me of being a frequent negative nabob this morning. . . sheesh!)
Ohhhhhhh we're all ruined. . . RUINED!!
