Has anyone seen the first two episodes of the new series last Wednesday? I've been quite favourably impressed. Some things are different from the comic books and a little more childish, and it seems to be in continuity with the movies (black Nick Fury, present-day setting, ironic Iron-Man and automated Jarvis) but there was plenty to like and some nice bits for the long-time fans.

I Tivoed about 3 hours from ToonDisney Sunday Morning, half-hour episodes of origins--Iron Man, Nick Fury, Thor, Hulk, Cap, Ant-man(?), and the 2-part pilot....but I've only seen Iron Man/Nick Fury and the Thor episodes. The intro song is horrible, but everything else is pretty well done. I like how action-packed each episode is, the depth of the origins is surprising, lots of background goodies,....and Thor fights the freakin' WRECKING CREW!!!!! Need for football games to end, then I can't wait to see the rest.

I didn't know about the origins episodes!! *frantically starts searching the web* The intro song actually grew on me after listening to it a few times. At least it's better than the one in the nineties ^^

I've found the origin episodes and I'm watching them together with episode 3. The quality seems generally very high, but I was surprised that they changed Cap's past. Now, instead of fighting the nazis in WW2, he was fighting Hydra all along (and the Red Skull is an agent of Hydra, who apparently had already conquered Europe, including Germany). Bizarre..

So far I've seen the "origin" or maybe i should have called them "introduction" episodes and the 2-part pilot. I freakin' LOVE it. This cartoon embodies all the things I loved about the Avengers as a kid. Lots of costumes, great characterization, relationships.... well done, IMO. A few nice touches I really enjoyed....... SPOILERS........SPOILERS.....SPOILERS.....SPOILERS>>> Ant-man.....Wow, that episode was great, I liked how they depicted Hank, Jan....and I was impressed how in-depth the writers got with characters > like how they explain that Whirlwind is a mutant. Black Panther> the original Black Panther costume is really cool. I also liked that T"challa fights a heavy-hitter (a problem we talked about in another thread)...the MAN-APE! Also, hearing Man-Apes name out loud (M'Baku) was really cool for me....I always wondered the pronunciation. Yay. The Hulk episode was great. Hawkeye and Black Widow (as SHIELD agents!) vs. the HULK! I was impressed with Hawkeye and Natasha (still always imagine her with an accent, tho). I wouldn't mind a Hawkeye/Widow spin-off. Great costume for BW (always my fave for her). The Cap episode was my favorite--the "Howling Commandos" scene really blew me away---look for the "surprise" Commando......< And somehow they all tie into-----a KLAW back-story! Wow, again. Also, they fit soooo much (2 stories) in 22 minutes. It's refreshing, after the "decompression" movement, to get a lot of AVENGERS goodies in rapid-fire. And the inclusion of so much MU trivial stuff....Look for Arnim Zola, the Mandrill, Jimmy Woo.... I'm sure ther will be some naysayers, especially because a lot doesn't jibe with the "real" Marvel history....but i say SO WHAT, This is the most fun Avengers stuff since I was a kid. Much better than ANY Avengers comics I've read since the early Busiek/Perez stuff. The one thing that worries me is that the upcoming movies will not be able to excite me the way this cartoon has. There's no way the movies will have the action-packed pace and number of MU characters that this has....so far. Highly recommended. Can't wait till the Vision shows up.

Today I watched the one episode I was still missing and I totally agree, it's great fun! Yes, it's a bit different from the comics, more in line with the movie continuity and with an eye for a children audience (Hank is... well, happier than his ever been on paper, and Thor seems somewhat dumber than his comics self) but it's good fun. If the next 49 episodes are as good as the first 3 and the origins, we are in for a good ride. The greatest thing for me is the number of characters appearing in just a few episodes. Some are just cameos, but we are talking over a dozen of well-known super villains, 9 present and future Avengers, Nick Fury, the Howling Commando (including a certain hairy guy ), the Asgard cast, General Ross (hey HB, what you waiting for!) etc etc. Starfoxxx, have you noticed the newspaper referencing the Punisher? Or Hank working on an improved AI for Ultron? great stuff. Perhaps the only change I don't agree with is Cap's past fighting Hydra, it kind of puts everything a bit further away from the real world. It's not a big deal, just strange. I think it's T'Challa's father, T'Chaka (or whatever he is called)

I didn't realize these were something I could call up on the web to view! (Well-- unless they're not, o' course.) I'm gonna go surfing around to try and find them this very minute. Boy, that was easy enough-- right there on Marvel's website-! Watched micro-episodes 1 & 2 (would these be, like, the first five minutes of full-length "introduction" episodes?), and I'm kind of getting that same enthusiastic rush that you guys have been expressing here.
Couple of quick thoughts of my own:
The VO actor doing Tony's voice does a pretty darn credible impression of Robert Downey, Jr. That understated/underplayed, somewhat-snarky, matter-of-fact tone is nicely consistent, and I think has a lot to do with why we can accept this character when brought to the screen.
Wow, great Hulk transformation sequence! It's really an "Oh boy, here we go. . .!" moment. And a great set-up for a potentially deep storyline (kind of surprising, really). Ha- Ross is the same as ever. Brief computer-file glimpses of the Leader & the Abomination-- liked that, too. But--- where did the name of that diner come from? "Vital Signs Diner", I think it was? Ha---
Thanks guys-- neat stuff--

I knew you would like it. And wait till you get the Hulk-centered episodes The micro episodes are joined together in groups of four to make the introduction episodes. According to TV.com, the order is "Iron Man is Born" --> micro episodes "Iron Man is Born!", "HYDRA Lives!", "Behold, the Mandroids", and "Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." "Thor the Mighty" --> "Thor the Mighty", "Siege of Asgard", "My Brother, My Enemy" and "The Isle of Silence" "Hulk Versus the World" --> "The Coming of the Hulk", "Hulk Versues the World", "This Monster, This Hero", and "Beware the Widow's Bite" "Meet Captain America" --> "Meet Captain America", "The Red Skull Strikes", "If This Be Doomsday", and "Lo, There Shall Come a Conqueror" "The Man in The Ant Hill" --> "The Man in the Ant Hill", "Enter the Whirlwind", "Welcome to Wakanda", and "The Big House" They all fit before episodes 1 and 2, the two-part "Breakout". Episode 3 is "Some Assembly Required". I download them with a Torrent program because obviously they are not on air here, but you can watch a new episode every Wednesday (no idea of time or channel but shouldn't be too difficult to find and record).

It is really outstanding so far. You have the usual "kid centered" stuff that you are going to get in a Disney Channel cartoon, but enough meat for the true Avenger fans.
As a big fan of Graviton, I was happy to see him featured early.
What has been really fun is that they have mixed the classic story (original team, confusions with the Hulk, Pym as Ant-Man) with later Avengers elements and cameos (Executioner, Grim Reaper, etc.), as well as the modern stroylines (Fury, the Breakout, etc.).
Even though I know all the stories, I like how they have reconfigured everything to keep it fresh, while still remaining true to the old Avengers crowd.
I am excited with the Ultron teasers.

The most plausible explanation I have heard on this is that Marvel knows they can't really market toys/merchandise/or even stories with Nazi swastikas on them. So, they are ret-conning all of their modern Cap stories to be anti-Hydra instead of anti-Nazi. Makes sense to me.

Okay, just watched the first 13 micro-episodes. Nice. I will continue watching. I love that it caters to both the movie fans and the comic fans. The characterizations are pretty consistent and the action is fast-paced but doesn't just feel like a video game. I'm impressed. I especially love that Hank and Jan are being treated with respect rather than resorting to her being captured and then rescued by Hank only to have him abuse her or something. My only questions/complaints are: 1. Since when could Absorbing Man change shape? He forms his hands into mallets. Is my memory failing or is this a new ability? 2. What is up with Jan's hair? I know I haven't liked how some recent books made her and Maria Hill look so much alike but... the animated style looks just plain silly. 3. Why did they have to go with the movie version of Jarvis. I would have much prefered the real thing. 4. Starfoxx is right. Natasha should have an accent.
However, if these are the only complaints I can come up with (And they are), that's high praise indeed.

So, they are ret-conning all of their modern Cap stories to be anti-Hydra instead of anti-Nazi. Makes sense to me. I suppose it would make sense if they are going to sell toys and merchandise from this cartoon, but do you mean they are doing it in comics as well? I haven't been following Cap too closely, but if so I've missed it completely. I noticed it too and I think it's a new ability. He kind of reminds me of Sandman in the episode, not being fazed at all when the Hulk shatters his body. In the original Secret Wars LS he was in shock when Wolverine cut his arm, fearing he wouldn't be able to fix it and would bleed to death.

It is pretty apparent that they are trying to tie in the cartoon with all of the live action stuff (Jarvis as AI, Iron Man's voice, etc.), and you obviously will see a lot of marketing/toys for the Cap movie (and the villains of the movie appear to be Hydra as well). Hence, no Nazi symbolism.

I guess I'm a little late to this party than, having no DisneyXD and working on a Masters Degree will do that. It sounds like an awesome show I'll have to track down the episodes for than, because I need something to keep me busy at work, lol.

I've seen episode 10 today (God bless the internet ^^) and it's still great fun, they are referencing and updating a lot of early Marvel stories and, all in all, they are managing to stay faithful to the comics. A few points (SPOILER ALERT) - The Hulk was dropped from the end of the opening. Episode 9 had only the other 4, and now in episode 10 Captain America has been added. - Baron Zemo here is the same who was active during the War, not his son, although he wears his son's costume. Adhesive X has been changed into Virus X. Nick Fury instead is the son of Sgt Fury who fought alongside Cap. And Modok is now Modoc, "designed only for... conquest" ^^ - Episode 10 has Wonder Man! In a ionic form very reminiscent of Busiek's run. - Animations and voice actors are still great (except maybe for Zemo being pronounced as if it were an English name rather than German)

I'm still loving this show-----RE: "EVERTHING IS WONDERFUL" episode 10 (?)
SPOILER ALERT--------
It's about Wonder Man. They do the whole origin thing---but I like how they tied Simon Williams' past into a hatred of Tony Stark---i don't remember this as part of the original story--and they also already have the GrimReaper around to further antagonize Simon- and also MODOC-- I like the new story-line even better than the original. They are taking the best parts of the history of the MU and making some improvements, IMHO.
And the stories are fueled not only by the heroic traits of the Avengers, but their personal good and bad traits, like the comic stories (used to). I like how true to the characters they stick---this is what makes for better stories--some of these guys could remind the current Marvel Bullpen.
I liked the THOR and WASP interplay---this team-up was really fun. The current MU needs to bring Jan back, and do a Thor team-up like this. Anyone remember any fun interactions between Jan and Thor? I'll have to dig some up. Anyhoo, it was great to see; I like when certain members team-up for assignments and really bond, like in this episode.
And the Giant-man battle was awesome. STOMP! That kind of sequential art is great! I like how Hank switches from Ant-man to Giant-man as needed.
Finally, there's not been too many noticable voice-cameos ( I do remember Kari Wuhrer from MTV's Remote Control and Beastmaster 2--hubba-hubba ) ...but thats Lance Henriksen as the Grim Reaper!
Just a very solid episode, top to bottom, and these are becoming my favorite 22 minutes every week.

I wouldn't say "hatred" was the right word, but a huge business rivalry definitely existed between Stark Industries and Williams Innovations.

I vaguely remember that too now that you mention it. And the Giant-man battle was awesome. STOMP! That kind of sequential art is great! I like how Hank switches from Ant-man to Giant-man as needed. For me the best part was Giant Man's face lighting up when he sees Wonder Man change size, showing he is still a (somewhat geeky) scientist at heart. All in all these Avengers seem much "happier" than their paper counterparts, they have more of a Silver Age spirit in them (although Thor still seems a bit dumb ^^). This show is great fun!

I because obviously they are not on air here, but you can watch a new episode every Wednesday (no idea of time or channel but shouldn't be too difficult to find and record). Depends if you are in Italy or the UK, they are on the disney channel in the UK. They must be pretty good, for some reason they got one of the three recommended programmes of the day in the Guardian newspaper TV guide. Not for the disney channel but for the whole of TV.

I had no idea this series was even out until a few days ago. I really am enjoying it, too. It's actually pretty d**n funny at times too. Like when the Black Panther first appears and knocks them around--and the Panther tells them he has come there because he needs their help. The Wasp responds "Why? I mean you basically just mopped the floor with us! Why would you want us?" LOL!
I love the array of characters--just the variety of villains is really exciting! All classic characters!

You are all welcome BTW for those watching it on TV, the show has been moved to Sunday mornings. The youtube user posting the videos fears this means it could get cancelled soon (although it makes sense to me to have it on Sunday when children don't have to go to school). Does anyone know what sort of ratings is doing? I know that Marvel and Disney have already produced season I and II, for a total of 52 episodes at least, so they will hopefully try to stick to it for as long as possible.

It should be moved! Here in Austin it's on on a Wednesday night! Seems like a strange night and time to attract a young audience.
As some of you know, I do video games for a living, so many of the people I work with are into comics, sci fi and that kinda thing. Yesterday I went around telling people about this great new cartoon--and only one person knew about it (and loved it)!
