You know, it looks good and I am excited about the movie BUT... If the rumors about Nathan Fillion and Eva Longoria as Antman and the Wasp had been realized and announced, I would be beside myself. I think the two characters should be there even if those actors didn't play them. For one thing, with that many characters there should be more than one female.

Well if what I read over on marvelousnews is correct, it sounded like Fillion crashed the Joss Whedon panel and Whedon asked him to play Pym. Makes it sound like he is on board, I was curious as to why he wouldn't be part of that group onstage.
Either way, really cool to see them all there. And awesome to know we get cinematic Hawkeye!

Thanks for the news, Van--btw, the AA front page looks great!
And I can't wait for Chris Evans to appear as both Johnny and Cap (after all, this is the digital age!) if and when Hollywood ever dramatizes the events in Fantastic Four #26 ;D--or any other Avengers-FF meeting.

(Actually, I think he would have been even better as Hawkeye-- but I shan't quibble). And here's the other thing--- I picked up the FIREFLY series from the library on a whim while HBDaughter was at camp. Never watched it before. HBJunior and I sat down and ended up watching the WHOLE SERIES pretty much in one sitting over the course of a very long Wednesday! I cannot describe how completely enthralled we were, 'though I'm sure many folks here have shared that feeling about this show---! Bought SERENITY just a couple of days ago, and we ate it up-- although it of course seriously broke our hearts, since it did bring the story to more or less of an end. At least with that cast of 9 that we loved so much. I don't think I've had such an overwhelming sense of "I don't want it to be over! I don't want it to be over!" since I was a kid. . . (Well, okay, or since Northern Exposure was cancelled-) Man, I would pay 5$ extra just for the fact that Fillion & Whedon could be reunited. . . HB

Boy, and there he is in that picture--- and I'm just not seein' Cap. You know what it is, I think? (I know, I know-- we've discussed this at length earlier--- it's just drivin' me crazy. . .) Cap/Steve, in spite of being a relatively young man, projects a distinct air of maturity. . . of calm & control. Evans, from the few films I've seen him in, projects almost exactly the opposite qualities-- more like an overgrown kid who will not surrender the brashness that he perceives as his sense of "youth", even as he gets too old to carry it off. And these are innate, unquantifiable qualities that are usually inherent in the actor. I would love to see Evans' screen test for this role, 'cause I can't imagine that he was able to pull such a reversal from his clearly habitual type. (grumble, grouse) HB

(grumble, grouse) HB And those were exactly the qualities that made him work for the Human Torch. The problem is that Cap and Johnny are entirely different types of people. The only real similarity is their trademark blonde hair which does give them some similarity of appearance. Oddly enough, the only thing about Evans that I thought did NOT work with the Torch was his physical appearance. He doesn't look like Johnny but does have the right personality. Now he has a character that looks like Johnny but has an opposite personality. I'm not sold.

Hey HB, if you've been liking Fillion, give "Castle" a try over on ABC. The first drama/TV show in a long time I've not missed an episode of over its two seasons. Amazing stuff.

Thanks KidC-- my sister-in-law happened to have the TV on last week (we rarely watch it), saying it was a show she really liked. Some talk show was happening within the story, and out pops our hero, Fillion! I couldn't believe it! Didn't have time to watch the show, but will try to. Mostly, I'm delighted that he's clearly getting some wider recognition! HB

Didn't have time to watch the show, but will try to. Mostly, I'm delighted that he's clearly getting some wider recognition! I remember Fillion from One Life to Live (one of the two soaps on I've watched for years now, on and off). It may have been Fillion's first TV acting job, from about 15 years ago; he was in a front-burner storyline in which he (as an innocent young man, returning form culinary school in Italy) was seduced by the show's resident (and much older) "evil" woman (she was seeking revenge on her arch-rival, Fillion's character's mother). He was very good in the role and you could tell he would find work outside of soaps, because he had an individual look (i.e., not cookie-cutter, blandly handsome) and real talent.
