And you have so many names to chose from now: Steve, Hank, Donald, Tony, Janet, Susan, Reed, John, Peter. I'd avoid Victor though, just in case ;D

And you have so many names to chose from now: Steve, Hank, Donald, Tony, Janet, Susan, Reed, John, Peter. I'd avoid Victor though, just in case ;D Hello? Or Robert Bruce? Hello? What is this, some sort of blackout conspiracy? (Say, for a girl, "Bobbie Bruce" is actually kinda kicky, don't you think, WS?) And, uh, my middle name is Victor. Sheesh. (Not "Human Victor Belly", mind you-). Oh, WS, this is just solidly happy news. There's nothing in the world more superheroic than flat-out embracing all of the trials and tribulations of fatherhood. Being the BEST at staggering around and comforting a crying infant at 3:30 a.m.; being the TOTAL KING of diaper changing; quietly laughing as you are being massively thrown-up on by a baby or toddler with a sick tummy; figuring out how many "away-missions" you can achieve with your willing side-kick in a back (or front) pack. Even more than it was with the marriage, it is again about subduing the service to self and committing to the service and care of that little other. Ah, golly. 'Course, we're now discovering that they do eventually turn into teenagers, and one starts to wonder at the wisdom of the investment. . . HB

The surname is Woodside, so let's follow Marvel/Stan's time-honored tradition (alliteration): If it's a boy: Warren If it's a girl: Wanda (Both Ws, as the Angel and the Scarlet Witch happily noted in a particularly sappy issue of X-Men: First Class). Anyway, congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. W!

Thanks guys! I'm so excited to be having this little guy (or girl or Mutant or Skrull)! It was not in our plans, but ready or not, parenthood awaits! "What to Expect When You're Expecting" --That was a particularly good guide for us, as I recall. And, man, there was a GREAT "Dad" guidebook as well-- and I'm wracking my brains & Amazon & ebay trying to rediscover the exact title!! (The Dad Book? The Father's Guide? How to be a Dad? Oh, daggone it. . . ) Not a humorous, comic diversion at all-- but a very practical, problem-solving handbook. Man-- I'm gonna find it & let you know. . .

(Well, I looked up a hunch based on fading memory, which still led me to the right title. . . ) THE FATHER'S ALMANAC By S. Adams Sullivan (1992) Gosh, I can't believe that was a relatively new book back when I got it. But it was consistently helpful to me as a new & nervous father. I ended up giving it to other dads as a baby-shower gift for a number of years. Readily available on ebay for a bargain price. And there's very little that's changed, I'm sure, about practical, thoughtful, safe baby (& wife) care during the last 18 years. (I mean, the *ahem* mechanics that started the whole process certainly haven't. Kind of a time-tested system, as it were. . . ) Blushingly, HB

Hey! Heyheyhey, WS!
It's Father's Day! This one would be, like, a dress rehearsal for you, yes? Any nest-building instincts kicking in? Have you built a three-level fort in your yard? Gutted a bedroom to the joists & studs and re-built it into a nursery? Hitting the thrift stores and buying cribs, rocking chairs, high-chairs, and onesies by the car trunk-load-?
I'm sure many of us are grimacing knowingly at the astonishing number of sleep-hours that are soon going to disappear from your life--- hoo-boy--

YAAAAAAAYYYY! HAHAHAHAHAAAAA--- that's great! Man, we've been wondering & keepin' our fingers crossed & everything. . . !
Big, pretty, dark eyes. Lovely head of dark hair. Like her skin tone! She arrived at the transporter a bit early, yes? But boy, she looks in fine shape in your photo--!
How're you holding up? And the stoic Mrs. W?
Now's the time for you to make the suggestion:
"Roberta Brucina Banneria Woodside".
I mean, it just flows. It's like a song of its own, contained in a single name. . .
. . . and your wife will never be more receptive than she is at this moment. WS, you know ol' HB wouldn't steer you wrong at a time like this--
(exalt for thinking of us here during this momentous occasion)

She is the cutest!! Congratulations to both! Hope the mum is better now too. Now get ready for a few sleepless nights, moments of panic and lots of cuddles and laughs, they tell me the first year is particularly special. BTW how's her adamantium? Wolverina Woodside has to be the best at what she does
