Here's an interview with Bill Rosemann, Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning on a new series called War of Kings.

IGN Comics: As much as you can right now, sum up the basic idea behind War of Kings. How does this story spin out of Secret Invasion?
Bill Rosemann: As Secret Invasion rumbles towards its conclusion, readers will see that various power players in the Marvel U are rushing headlong toward a violent collision. Dan and Andy (a.k.a. DnA) are modern masters of the sci-fi saga, and they've cleverly woven many different strands into a nasty knot. This is DnA's chance to throw a big bash, and they're inviting all the fun characters – and a wider audience – to the party!
Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning: Secret Invasion will leave several major players pretty PO'd and with a very large axe to grind. As a result, lines will be crossed and troubles will flare up. We're taking characters and events from Secret Invasion forward from where they are geographically and emotionally at the end of that series into WoK.
IGN Comics: Can you break down the basic structure of the story? What titles will it encompass and when can fans expect to see it in stores?
Rosemann: Seeds are being planted now and throughout 2008 in titles such as Secret Invasion: Inhumans, then the opening shots will be fired in early '09. And never fear, as the armies march closer to the battlefield, Marvel will be releasing the official list of War of Kings titles.
DnA: Battlelines are being drawn up right now, all will be revealed as we move from the end of '08 into '09.
IGN Comics: What segment of the Marvel population does this project center around? Is this another cosmic project for Dan and Andy, or are they branching out to make life miserable for other characters now?
Rosemann: While you'll see some familiar faces that DnA are associated with, now there's a whole new group of classic characters rushing into the fray! DnA have already hit us with a list of incredible ideas, and I can't wait to see what they dream up next! If X-Men fans have never experienced DnA's brand of character-rich drama and mind-expanding action, be prepared to be blown away!
DnA: There are so many great Marvel Cosmic characters, we're spoilt for choice. We're jazzed about the opportunity we've got to play with such great classics as the Inhumans and the Shi'Ar Empire and bringing them into the fold of another great adventure.

IGN Comics: Can you give any indication as to which characters play a role in the story? When we hear kings, there are only a few areas of the Marvel Universe involving characters with that title... Black Bolt comes to mind. Are we close or way off base here?
Rosemann: Taking a look at the amazing promo piece by Aleksi Briclot, it looks like Black Bolt – or somebody in Black Bolt's costume -- will indeed play a huge roll in War of Kings. And I think X-Men fans will definitely recognize that second character on the piece.
IGN Comics: Do Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy play into this project at all, given that they're both written by the esteemed duo? Does this have anything to do with the hints being dropped in Guardians about a larger conflict brewing?
Rosemann: With this huge battle brewing, how could Nova and the Guardians of the Galaxy not be caught in the crossfire?
DnA: Neither Nova or the Guardians of the Galaxy would stand idly by if such a grand conflagration like this were to kick-off. This sort of wide-reaching crisis is exactly the sort of thing they were created to tackle.

IGN Comics: Bill, have you found some more fantastic cover artists from the realms of fantasy art and gaming or will you be turning to the brilliant ones you've used in the past?
Rosemann: I'll definitely be calling upon Conquest cover artists…and I always enjoy bringing new artists to Marvel. You hear that, gaming artists? Send me your stuff! I want you at Marvel!
IGN Comics: Any last teases the three of you can make regarding War of Kings?
Rosemann: Who will rule? There can only be one!
DnA: Only that after the War of Kings nothing will ever be the same again for all involved.
IGN Comics: Bill, can you find someone to make us a Rocket Raccoon plush toy? Pretty please?
Rosemann: That's up to the fine folks in Marvel licensing – and to the makers of quality plush toys. If someone out there can get these two groups together we'll have magic!
