Obviously, with the skrull revelations, there will be plenty of retcons out of this story. No doubt, many will mess things up, but there is the possibility that some good will come out of them.
What Skrull retcons do you think would make the Marvel Universe better?
Mine:
Bring back Beast's ape form. I have never liked the "cat-Beast". I would very much like the current Beast to be a skrull, and the classic Beast to return.
Bring back the real Hawkeye. I know that Bendis has this love affair with Luke Cage, but the Hawkeye that I grew up with would never be on a team with Cage as leader. Hawkeye takes orders from no one short of Captain America, and even then under protest. Get rid of this "Ronin" nonsense, and give Clint his arrows back!
This is also a perfect opportunity to fix Scarlet Witch, by revealing that the one that destroyed the Avengers was a skrull.
Finally, the biggest one. This one would alter a couple of decades worth of stories. Of course, Quesada clearly has no problem with that. I'm sure that many of the people here have read the Dark Phoenix Saga. I thought that Marvel really screwed up when they "revealed" that Jean was still under the Jamaica Bay in suspended animation, while the Phoenix was masquerading as Jean. This is the story that defined the Jean Grey character and they basically took her out of it. There was a skrull there during the battle on the moon. It wouldn't be much of a stretch to say that the skrulls took Jean's body to try to harness the Phoenix powers, and sent a skrull to be "found" in the Bay.
I doubt that any of these will happen, but a guy can dream.

I would certainly agree that discovering it really wasn't the Scarlet Witch who destroyed the Avengers would be nice.
I would also like to discover that the animosity the Avengers have been having toward Hank Pym is because they were Skrulls. Hey, maybe some of them knew he was a Skrull so some of the "Oh brother" type reactions that were thought we he spoke were actually because they find the Skrull who replaced him to be annoying.

None. The Marvel Universe needs to stop looking behind and move forward. Just explore how SI has tied into recent events and let's just go.
Except for Captain America. Brubaker can retcon whatever he wants.
Doing the whole Dark Phoenix/Jean Grey switcheroo is just a little too lame by throwing in a Skrull. I'd rather it just be changed to Jean's body being taken to Jamaica Bay right after she killed herself on the moon -- and then see logical explanations for the contradictions. Paging Mike Carey . . .

Interesting post sph683, and welcome aboard. In line with your Beast and Jean Grey retcons, I think it would be great if the pre-Xfactor return of Jean (Avengers #263) was actually a Skrull as Jean who teams up with Skrulls impersonating Iceman, Beast, and Angel. This would clean up all the (IMO) disastrous and convoluted nonsense that Beast and Angel go through in X-factor and after,
The Beast turns un-furry early on in the X-factor series (and loses his sense of humor in the process! Hmmm.... Then he goes furry again, but the personality of his Avengers persona never really returns. Then at one point he becomes a cat. (Hmmmm.....) And Hank would be a useful candidate for a Skrull infiltrator, because he has been involved in tons of major Marvel U plotlines, especially since X-factor started.
Angel went through his Archangel metamorphosis shortly after the intro of Apocalypse in X-factor. I always hated this change. It seems to me his personality changed when he became the blue-skinned Archangel. Then he's one of the Horsemen of Apocalypse (I never liked Apocalypse and all the confusing plotlines surrounding him). Then his Warren Worthington persona returns but he's still blue, and to tell you the truth, I really don't know what color his skin is now (i think back to normal) since I gave up on alll things X-men waaaay back. Anyway, smells pretty Skrully, to me. Hmmm.....
Iceman, I got nuthin' BUT i feel bobby's personality has changed with almost every writer. I believe he became quite the ladie's man, a characteristic more suited to Warren in their 60's incarnations. Hmmmm......
Jean, oh Jean if only you really died, and it was a Skrull that returned in that cocoon. I think it would work, but how did it get by Prof.X??? Maybe HE's been a Skrull since he was captured by the Brood around the same time X-factor was formed.
Maybe after some inside research, these Skrull spies were able to pick up on some of the personalities of the heroes they're masquerading as.
Making Cyclops a Skrull is tempting, but it would be even better (and somehow appropriate) if Scott's the only one NOT in on the infiltration. Another tragic situation for the poor guy! Plus, he's always been MY least favorite, so why not. Scott dealing with the repercussions of his old teammates from the 70's returning would be a great story (and one that would make ME start buying X-men again.
Anyway, this would INFURIATE many, many X-fans.... but for me , it would eliminate a very messy 20+ years worth of X-nonsense, and bring back the original 5 X-men without all the baggage. Not to mention the ever' lovin' blue-furred BEAST!

I'm sure everyone would want to see Spider-Man not being part of the Avengers history and hoping that the Sentry will never be part of the Marvel Universe again.

Here's my "Who's Who" dream wishlist of skrulls: - Iron Man (not the real one since before the Extremis affair and CW) - Captain America (the one who died, anyway...) - the female Loki currently parading around on the pages of Thor - the Odin who died last time - Ronin/ "Clint Barton" - the Scarlet Witch, from Disassembled onward - Quicksilver since the last time (sigh...) he went insane - the feline Beast - the Sentry since... forever... - the Wolverine who joined the New Avengers/ Secret Avengers - the Ares who joined the New Avengers - the Zeus who died during the Ares miniseries - all the kids from Young Avengers - Jackpot - aand, while we're on the subject, if Jackpot and MJ Watson ARE different people, then the MJ Watson who agreed to Mephisto's deal as well. I know, even for the skrulls, as formidable as they're now, it might be a bit of a stretch to fool ol' Mephisto but, since apparently even the skrull gods pantheon is involved, perhaps THEY could have lended a hand at accomplishing this... - Joe Quesada

Wow Bong. Except for the part about Young Avengers (I like them) I think you have been reading my mind. Can Norman Osborne still be dead too? I'd love to find out that he died in ASM #121 after having had an affair with a Skrull pretending to be Gwen Stacy. She then switched to impersonating someone else after the real Gwen died.

Sure, but your timetable's quite a bit more ambitious than mine, spiderwasp...! The truth is, I like the YA too; in fact, I thought their original series (miniseries...?) was excellent BUT I like Hawkeye (Clint) and the Vision (synthezoid) even more, and I think as long as the YA are around Marvel will not bring them back. Oh, and one more for the road (from my list): the Scott Lang who died during Disassembled.

- the Odin who died last time Ugh, really? Odin's more a charade than a character, even Simonson could never make him interesting before he killed him. All he does is hold Thor back! I'm right with you there! (Though those are the only two really...) Err... since they probably are different people, why get rid of Jackpot? She's just another red-headed super hero who's pretty unique really.

Sure, but your timetable's quite a bit more ambitious than mine, spiderwasp...! True, but there have been indications that the invasion could potentially go back as far as the Kree/Skrull war (Though I doubt it will) and Osborne didn't return from the dead until long after after that. Since Gwen was just an ordinary human, it isn't even necessary that it be one of the technologically advanced Skrulls. Just an ordinary Skrull would be fine. Of course, for me, it isn't even necessary that the story be good. Anything that gets rid of that atrocious character assassination works for me. Hey, maybe the Skrull thing will explain the Black Widow's recent foul mouth. I understand that Russian spies turned super heroes may use some *&%# colorful language but they have to bleep out half the &%$#@ that &*$# says. What the $*% is up with that. (Oops, pardon my Russian)

Actually, I'd prefer it if Osborn remains non-Skrullified. A year or two ago, I would be fully in favour of making him a Skrull but dammit, Thunderbolts is just too awesome for that. T-bolts 120 is the best Norman Osborn in a very, veryy long time- even makes it worth him coming back!
