I thought it would be nice to discuss the candidates in each Jarvis category. Since there are a lot of categories, some of which have a lot of candidates, it might make sense to discuss each category in its own thread.
1. BEST AVENGERS-RELATED STORY OR ARC of 2006 + Captain America #14-24 (Winter Soldier et. al.) + Civil War #1-5 + Thunderbolts #101-109 (Guardian Protocols/Wellspring) + Ultimates 2 #10-12 (Liberators) + Young Avengers #9-12 (Family Matters)
I won’t be voting for the Captain America or Ultimates candidates, since I haven’t read those stories. I started reading Civil War but abandoned it, and so I won’t be voting for it either. I nominated “Family Matters” from Young Avengers, but I also read and enjoyed the Thunderbolts story. Right now, I’m still edging toward YA, but I’ll want to take another look at the ’Bolts story before deciding.
How about you?

Ultimates 2 is the only one of the choices above that I have read (sorry, Van -- YA is still on my "to do" list!!). I found the story to be quite good, so even given the fact that I am not familiar with the other works, I have no trouble supporting Ultimates 2.

The Ultimates 2 lived up to its action movie intensity and was so over the top that it was awesome.
The Thunderbolts arc ended strong, but I felt like the start was ultra-confusing. The revolver at the end certainly rocked.
Young Avengers seemed to work out a little too conveniently, but it was a fun read too.
I didn't get a chance to read Captain America, but I certainly heard big things.
I'm planning to vote for Ultimates 2. even though that's not what I nominated.

Choosing between ULTIMATES 2 and YOUNG AVENGERS is really tough-- which shows that there were some good Avengers-related comics in 2006. Unfortunately, none were called "The Avengers." In some ways, these two are apples and oranges. They have nothing to do with each other. But if I have to pick one, I'll go with ULTIMATES 2, for the sheer, jaw-dropping shock-and-awe of the Liberators story. (NEW AVENGERS, on the other hand, is not shock and awe but shuck and jive...) I think my favorite Avengers-related comic of the year was YA 12, though. But it's really close between that and U2 #10...

I loved the Family Matters story. It was a good story line and opened up great future possibilities for the book,.. if they will get back to the book
