Hey, Van, why don't you provide us with an actual list of Avengers-related comics that came out in 2005? Oh, wait-- I am Van. So-- hey, would someone else like to take on the task of listing the Avengers-related comics (including issue numbers) that came out in '05? For example, we have to hold off till next year to include MS. MARVEL, among others... but we do get to consider some things that came out nearly 18 months ago! Volunteers? (Think of the "exalts" you'll get!) ;D

Haha! You are a "New Avenger" because you just joined! Okay, okay, you got me... that's not entirely true. You are also a "New Avenger" because I ranked that designation so low in the "batting order." From "New Avenger," you will gradually rise up to much "better" levels of Avengerdom. "New Avenger" just happens to be the lowest. My own little editorial opinion showing through, there. ;D Of course, it's all subjective, and some here really like NEW AVENGERS. And that's fine, of course. (Though we're doing what we can to change their minds!)

I've seen that the title "Avenger" comes with the 4 stars. Was wondering what comes with 5 ? (Avengers Leader ? Galactus ? Elder of the Forum ?).
Going back to topic, I unfortunately haven't read Young Avengers, so I think I will vote for the writer of Last Hero Standing, the Avengers play a prominent role in there.

Yes, you have seen that, and congrats on your lofty rank! But, since I made up the ranks back in September or whenever, I have no idea what's next. So, you will have to, in the immortal words of Kurt Busiek, "Wait and see!" ;D Egad, man! You haven't read YOUNG AVENGERS?!?! RUN, don't walk, to the shop! Go online and mail-order the TPB. Do something!! Marvelly Avengery goodness awaits!!

You making me curious now ;D
Unfortunately Young Avengers has only been printed in volume format in Italy, collecting about 8 issues toegher. It doesn't sell well, so the price is quite high (too high for me at the moment ^^). Hopefully someday I'll go back at it.

- Ultimates 2 #2–7
- Ultimates Annual #1
- Wolverine #24–37
- Young Avengers #1–9
- Young Avengers Special #1
Of course, the creation of such a list brings up questions such as, What constitutes an Avengers-related comic? You’ll see I included a lot of Spider-Man comics, though I did deliberately excise some (the Human Torch and Black Cat team-up limited series, for instance). On the other hand, maybe I included too many Spider-Man books—I didn’t go back and check whether the Avengers played a role in any of the cited Spectaular Spider-Man issues, for instance. Does GLA really count? Even if so, does the GLX-Mas Special? Should we really be including series based on ex-Avengers like the Black Panther and Thor? I don’t know. So, if you want to debate inclusions and exclusions, be my guest.

Aw, shucks...
Also, keep in mind, folks, that I compiled my list hurriedly. I could have easily overlooked something altogether, especially a series or guest shot I didn’t read (I tend to jump over the “Ultimate” listings since I don’t read that line, for instance...).

In all seriousness, I think Bendis would have a lot less headaches coming from these boards if he were writing in the Ultimate Universe altogether. I have no problem with his Spider-Man (although I haven't ever warmed to his Green Goblin interpretation) take. It's almost, though, like he is trying to be radically different with the Avengers, but he's stuck in the MU. Not a good fit.
You might try a tpb of the Ulitmates, Ultimate FF, or Ultimate Spidey. They are pretty good.

Great job, Phantom !
Only thing I can add is about Spider-Man: Breakout. The Avengers are in there, but they play a rather minor role throughout. If I remember correctly (I read the issue only once a few months ago), their longest appearence in that miniseries is in issue #5.

Thanks! I won’t look through the issues right now to confirm or disconfirm, but...I do feel strongly that this is an Avengers comic, for the titular breakout took place in New Avengers #1–3, and Spider-Man is acting as an Avenger to follow up.

May be you are right, as I mentioned above I haven't read the issue in a few months. I only got the feeling that the Avengers were there only for a few panels, especially in the first issues.
