So I was thinking about Civil War and about JMS's stories as he usually structures them, and I thought I'd compare the two. So here is Civil War blended with JMS stories:
After a violent incident involving the assassination of the president (an explosion that kills children), a fascist regime seizes power (an apparently fascist Tony Stark takes over SHIELD). Some Earth officers (heroes like Ms. Marvel, Wonder Man, Mr. Fantastic, etc) cooperate with the government while others object.
The Earth Government (the US govt) has a registration program (sets up a registration program) for people with psi powers (super powers).
The government creates the Psi Corps (the Initiative) where people have to join Psi Corps (Register with SHIELD) or they will be given shots to take away their powers (have their weapon taken away*).
A group of officers (heroes) led by John Sheridan (Captain America) declares independence (rebels and goes into hiding) and fights back (fights back).
Sheridan (Cap) fights his best buddy Garibaldi (Iron Man) and is captured by EarthGov (surrenders to SHIELD). At one point, Sheridan (Cap) is killed (is killed). The Army of Light (the New Avengers) continues to battle without him (continues to battle without him).
EarthGov (SHIELD) uses Shadow technology (super villains in the Tbolts) to go after the Army of Light (New Avengers).
So... will Sheridan (Cap) come back from the dead at Z'ha'dum (come back from the dead in the SHIELD vaults) and lead the Army of Light (New Avengers) to overthrow the fascist dictator Clark (Tony Stark)
* (We don't know exactly what happens to heroes with non-mechanical powers who wash out of the Initiative ...yet.)
I realize not all of this is in precise chronological order within itself, but I tried to note where that was the case. And I'm not so much making any kind of argument specifically here, just saying, "Isn't this interesting...?"
