if you're trying to marvel universe a more real place to be, with real repercussions, wouldn't the last thing you'd do be bring back someone with the power to alter reality? oh wait. evidently that's not a problem if you're looking at the return of wanda Avengers cover... but seriously, how can any story have impact when there are any of a dozen characters who can easily hit the rewind button? if none of this works out, beyonder, franklin richards/onslaught, wanda, the shaper of worlds, anybody with a cosmic cube, and several others can EASILY just say "it never happened" I think marvel has confused change with retcons. most of what they're doing now will not stand; it'll be gone within eight years. real change is stuff that strikes to the core of the character, emotionally. like the alec holland swamp thing finding out he was a shell of a man who just had some memories, but not the soul of the person he thought he was. barbara gordon in a wheelchair, tony stark's battles with alcohol. those things could be changed, easily, but the impact of the stories makes it nigh impossible to just wave them away. so how it will end? well if the delays keep up, it may never end, heh, but really the end won't matter unless they make you care and so far all marvel has shown me lately is they know how to kill characters without much impact...

I still think that whoever or whatever is that is behind the scenes in Hydra and SHIELD is behind the scenes with the Civil War, and that is what the mysterious "42" file that Reed is keeping secret from Sue is all about.
So Fury or Cap and his merry band finds out that someone is pulling the strings with Iron-Man, Reed and maybe a few others, stops them and the Hero Registration act is canceled. Cap would still have bad feelings about Tony's part in this, Peter would be up the creek, and there would be all this tension in the MU that they'll use for years.

y'know, I think that I'm going to quit reading Civil War & Front Line directly. I should be able to pick up what is going on in the usual books. seems to be working so far.

Yup, that's how it ended for me, late shipping, pricey crosss-overs half-ass'dly done, by the time I swim out from under all the promos, hints and speculations, I feel burned out on it all. So, I think I'm just going to wait for the trades ( and I imagine there's going to be a ton of those! )

Well, I don't really. So far I only know how Thor's clone behaves, but I'm looking forward for the real deal to fight the clone As for the idea of cloning a God, I think it was silly, but better than having the real Thor behaving like that.

Point taken. I wonder if the real deal will return for that purpose? I regard the idea of cloning Thor, even given that the Asgardians aren't technically gods, as execrable writing. Sure, one might clone the body, that technology exists in the MU and if anyone had it, Iron Man and Mister Fantastic would. But the Asgardians owe their powers to magic conferred upon them or master over a lifetime, not to cellular biomechanics. A Thor that behaves as this one does probably couldn't pick up Mjolnir in the first place, assuming that's what it has (and not a copy built by Iron Man). Finally, if the *real* Thor ever returns, he's liable to be more than a little bit upset at this bit of scientific chicanery. Were I him, the very least that would happen would be that I'd sever all ties with Iron Man and Mister Fantastic. It's hard to imagine how the characters throught this was a good idea. About the only way I can see this story ending without damaging the Marvel Universe seriously is if Iron Man turns out to be under a villain's control, or a disguised villain (like Loki).

It is a copy, in one panel towards the end, when Reed is working on "Thor", you can see the hammer opened and with some circuitry inside. Unless I missed something really big among the way, that's not Mjolnir. Also, the real Thor is back. About 3 issues of Fantastic Four ago, I guy going by the initials D.B. (Don Blake ?) picked up the real Mjolnir and disappeared in the sky in a flash of lightnening. As such, I strongly think he will be back to fight his clone towards the end of CW. As for cloning a God, I totally agree with you. The only thing that makes me doubt is that, at some point, Reed switches "Thor" off with a code, so it might be at leat partially robotic (like a cyborg basically). Still silly, but better than pure clone I guess.
