So no one comments Spider-Man coming out of the closet as Peter Parker?
Apparently the guy walking around in an armour, kissing arse to Tony Stark, with god knows how many legs and a supermodel while shooting organic web of his arse wasn't written out of character enough!
;D

It was spoiled for me by WIZARD two months ago. They had a long article about a summit meeting involving all the writers and editors, and talked at great length about a dispute between JMS and Millar and Bendis (among others) over where the big event from CIVIL WAR #2 should happen. JMS demanded it be in AMAZING, while Millar wanted it in CW. Bendis settled the matter (apparently) by pointing out that Supergirl died in CRISIS and not in SUPERMAN or her own book (if she had one). Then the ads (and WIZARD's polls) started hinting at someone important "revealing their identity this summer!" So it was pretty obvious from that and other clues exactly what was going to happen in CW #2. Whoop. It does raise interesting questions about what will happen to Peter's supporting cast, though. They can't go to all this trouble to set up "his family is in DANGER now!!!" and then have nothing happen, can they? But how many times can you kill Aunt May? Which gets us back around to our other interesting discussion topic here... And the big Iron Man "revelation" in CIVIL WAR: FRONTLINE #1 was about as dramatic and shocking as Thor stepping up to announce that he is vaguely Scandinavian.

I'm not happy at Peter unmasking himself (I like my heroes to keep their secret IDs, in these days everyone is outing...) but at this point I hope there is some reflection on his supporting cast. For example how will JJJ react ? and Robbie ? Betty Brant (who for a long time considered Spidey responsible for her brother's death), Flash etc ? JMS has a tendency to ignore the most of the supporting cast (basically everyone except Aunt May and MJ), but I hope he gives them some spotlight after this revelation.

So true. I enjoyed the story but this wasn´t surprising at all. I´d rather think -- there really was somebody yet not knowing Stark is IM? Amazing! I like DD all the more - Murdock fighting with all means against his outing - for me, this guy shows character. But then, I´m on Caps side. ;D

I find it funny that one of Joe Q's big complaints about married spider man is that it severely limits the stories you can tell. doesn't he think revealing spidey's i.d. will have the same effect? what bugs me is this is just a backdoor way to get mary jane out of the picture. spidey's ID can become a secret again in any of a hundred different ways. it's not that big of a deal, really...

I actually thought it wasn't so much the revelation of his identity that was supposed to be the shocker, but instead the fact that he confessed to being a recovering alcholic. ~W~
