I've just found a reference according to which, in one story, Captain America (who at the time was in his "Captain" identity), managed to lift Mjolinr. Has anyone read it ? What happened (did he turn into an Asgardian styled character for example) ?

I think I've read that (the clouds of time, however, veil my memory -- how was that??). I don't recall anything happening to Cap. The point of the scene was to again demonstrate Cap's pure heart and nobility. Busiek similarly used that idea with Superman in the JLA/Avengers story.

Cap did turn into (kinda) Thor in the 2099 one shot Destiny Manifest. Steve Rogers, frozen again until 2099, received Don Blake´s stick and by hitting it on the ground turns into American Thor... no, he wasn´t really called that. But I guess that´s not what you meant...

Interesting, thanks for the info.
I'll have to try and find that book. I'm really curios to see how Cap reacted to wielding Mjolnir and how Thor commented.

I have a vague memory of that. It should be easy to find, because Cap didn't appear as "The Captain" for more than an issue or two, right around issue 300 I think. Don't really remember though.

I had a look in www.immortalthor.net and I found the issue, "The hero and the hammer". I don't have the page in front of me now but it should be between 380 and 400.
