This area of the forum seems a bit underpopulated. Let's try mentioning one of Shellhead's most famous story arcs, the one where he was dealing with alcoholism. What do you think of it ?

The single greatest portion of the single greatest run in IRON MAN history, IMO.
The entire Michelinie/Romita Jr/Layton run is my favorite in the book's history (and I'm hardly alone in that). "Demon in a Bottle" (the precise title) culminated most everything they were trying to do with the character and the book, though it came less than halfway through their run.
This run also introduced Rhodey, Mrs. Arbogast, Justin Hammer and the army of super-villains, and included great combat sequences of Shellhead vs. Hulk and vs. Namor. Whoooo!
I fell in love with the Iron Man character during Bill Mantlo's run, just prior to this, and I still love that period (Jack of Hearts, Midas, the Guardsman armor, Whitney Frost, the Colonizers of Rigel, the Knights of Wundagore, the Soviet Super Soldiers, etc etc). But the Michelinie/Layton/JR Jr era (back when I actually liked JR Jr's art!) is the definitive run.

i saw that for the first time in the john romita visionaries HC, it was pretty great and got me interested in seeing more of iron mans problems, and of course i love romita (which is why i bought the book in the first place). too bad we dont see too much storytelling like that anymore.
