This month wasn’t as good as number six, but I think that its mostly due to it being more of an action issue that didn’t go out of its way to bring the funny. The action stuff was well done, and seemed to capture the confusion of the chase pretty well. I certainly can't say I didn't like the book. Its still the best find I've made in a while.
Random Thoughts:
The focus shifted away from Ms. Marvel, but the characters populating Ms. Marvel's portion of Civil War are interesting and I don't feel like the title was hijacked in any sense.
I like Arana. Not in the sense that'd I'd read a solo book, but in the sense that if she showed up in other books every now and then I wouldn't mind. I'd be interested to see her in a team book like the Avengers. She at least has a character to her, and one that would make for a different reaction that the standard "Wow. I'm young and flustered fighting along side the Avengers" reaction that seems to be standard to teenaged heroes.
Carol's story with the Civil War is enough to make me keep buying her title afterwards. The art is good, and more importantly it stays away from the realm of being "sleazy and I'm embarrassed to be reading this" like titles featuring heroines are prone to become.
Is it weird that even S.H.I.E.L.D. calls them "Capekillers"? Shouldn't they have a name that makes them sound less evil? One that you wouldn't feel ashamed to send in or be a part of? I know that they'd probably take on a short-hand name like Capekiller in casual conversation and the like, but shouldn't they at least be referred to as something else during briefings? Am I reading too much into this?
And we can all rest easy knowing that even to the Marvel Universe, Dazzler is lame.
