Wow... I thought the only copies of United They Stand on DVD were bootlegs. Whaddaya know?
Bought it today, finally got to see the last two episodes.
I have no idea why people were so critical of it, and this brings up a BENDIS! point. (Sorry. I will see a shrink, I promise.)
BENDIS! and his sycophants (fans, whatever) claim that the only reason why sane people dislike New Avengers is because it is different from the "old" Avengers.
Not true.
At least down here in Australia, UTS was fairly popular. (The cartoon, not the comic.) That was VERY different to the Avengers - since when did they have all have garish battle armour? - but it still had the essential Avengers-ness that isn't present in New Avengers (despite the claims of BENDIS!-hacks who only started reading with Disassembled).
UTS is the perfect example of the Avengers being different and not sucking, and some great stories came out of it. Go watch 'Command Decision' - that episode made a great point about Cap that, at least in my experience, very few American Avengers fans have noticed and only Kurt Busiek has ever really touched upon (that point being that Cap is an overbearing nut who not only wants to turn the Avengers into Cap and his Amazing Friends but also reads 'Earth's Mightiest' as '(Captain) America's Mightiest').
Go UTS!

P.S. - If you're going to disagree with me about the Cap comments, don't expect a reply. I've already been branded a terrorist (in a totally non-joking way), traitor and 'retard' for making those claims around Americans. It seems that many American comic readers - or at least those that visit message boards - don't understand that there is a whole world beyond America's borders; they also tend to be the same people that think every country uses US$ and other very silly things like that.
Actually, if you choose to disagree with me about it you will get a reply - in the form of a rant about DERMIE's (sorry, Alvaro's) comicboards.com! (And we all know how my rants end up.)
Stupid BENDIS!.
