Well, it turns out the Big Bad of Annihilation Conquest is.... none other than ULTRON! That's right, the Avengers' arch-foe has gone cosmic, and appears to be in his old non-female form with cape and all. Why he's male again, what his relationship is, if any, with the one in Mighty Avengers, and why exactly he's decided to conquer the cosmos, is presumably upcoming. Felt you guys should know.

My reaction was similar, especially considering I had heard that it would be an old Avengers foe and assumed Kang... but no... this is bewildering. But accurate. And for proof....

AWESOME!
Warlock . . . as in Adam Warlock!?
Then what's going on Earth with Jantron? I seem to recall there was a line about someone control Jantron, but I could be wrong . . .

Yes, Adam Warlock, but I know nothing other than that he's involved. And as for Jantron, I've thought all along that's a tiny facet or failsafe of the Ultron interface. That would explain why everything she/it does is unoriginal, recycling something previously done by others, as pointed out in issue 4.

Ultron... on a cosmic scale? I am not sure what to think.
This could either be like oil and water, or it could be the next best thing since someone got their peanut butter in my chocolate and I got my chocolate in their peanut butter!
I presume the Phalanx attempted to "assimilate" Ultron, who either naturally rose to prominence, or naturally (for Ultron) turned the tables and conquered their hive/computer mind. He's so dastardly!
Will we be treated to Hank Pym The Wife Beater references, and other "guilt-assignment" brow beating towards him throughout this book, as in others? Yay!

I'm actually hoping this story establishes Ultron as existing long before Hank Pym ever breathed life into him--that Ultron is some sort of techno sentient being who plunged himself into the shell that Hank Pym made and that Hank didn't create him. Given that Ulty is suddenly a space faring threat when in every other appearance he just seemed to have a hate-on for humanity, it's the only explanation that even seems mildly sensible to moi.

Warlock is involved through the Quasar series. He is billed as the 'Savior' for this run. So it will turn out to be him vs. Ultron. He was actually in his coccoon hibernating when his re-generation was interrupted by Quasar and moondragon(now a dragon by the way) So Warlock has an incomplete memory and identity.
The reveal on Ultron as a last page shocker was outstanding.
The lead in series really left a lot to be desired for me this time around, so I really wasn't expecting much from this book. But it was really very good. It is worth a look

It is worth a look As much as I'd like to pick this up, I just can't afford to buy another title right now. I'll just wait until the hardcovers come out and pick 'em up then like I did with Annihilation.

have to say, now that we are well into this, it still has me guessing. I'm not sure just how interested I am, it feels very convoluted at times.
