Has anyone read this ? I was quite uncertain at first, because so far I had not liked any "the end" mini, but I gave it a chance anyway thanks to Adams art. Surprisingly, in the end I enjoyed the story a lot... nothing sad or catastrophic but a very possible future for the FF, and the Avengers are in there too. I would even say that this mini is the best FF story in the very recent past

We discussed the mini a bit in another thread last December. Generally speaking, I shy away from “alternate continuity” stories. In my opinion, they often get a little too bogged down in the references to the “regular” continuity (which is already an alternate continuity, from the reader’s standpoint). However, I tried this series out and enjoyed it, although I recall the middle act being a bit slow. It’d probably make a good read for a single day. “The End” was a lot more fun than one might expect a comic so named to be. It is also fun that it doubles as an Avengers comic too.

I plan on reading the trade of this. I'm actually more looking forward the Stan Lee/JRJR version than this one.

My boyfriend really really hates Romita Jr's work. I don't feel strongly about it one way or the other. Although I adore his father's stuff, but then again, it's what I grew up reading.

JRJR is touch and go. Sometimes it's really fantastic. Other times, it's absolutley terrible. If he's brinigng his A game to this project, then I'm sure it'll be great.
dlw66: There's going to be a different "Fantastic Four: The End" coming out at the end of the year. It's a one-shot written by Stan Lee and will be concentrating on (from what I understand) the group itself rather than their universe (as I understand Alan Davis' did).

I used to like his art in the 80's; I don't care for it now... But then, the same thing happens to me with Steve Epting's art: loved him on Avengers, but not anymore...

I preferred JRJR's art when his style was more like his father's, back in the 80s. He became VERY geometric all of a sudden in the mid 90s, when he was given more titles to work on and less time. Now he is going back a bit, but he is still not among my fav artists.
