I don't think Tom Brevoort agonizes at night over the name Clor, it's more something he thinks is a silly idea and commented on it. I'd agree. It IS a silly idea - that grew from a silly concept. You say "don't create mockworthy concepts!" ass though he greatly cares or as though it's a victory for those who do not like Marvel... Oh, Marvel has made it very clear that they don't care about my opinion or want me as a reader. You're not reporting breaking news on that!

I'm stunned that you drop Spidey, one of the highest quality titles on the market, and Mighty, which had just ONE slow issue which wasn't even that poor, and FF, entering a new golden age Nutcase. STUNNED, I say!

He made the right choice on Mighty. It's taking a long, slow, mediocre time to get where it's going. I bought the first three issues and found the average, at best. It was the wrong time, IMO, to drop Spider-Man. I dropped Fantastic Four after the stupid psychohistory issue and never looked back. It was an early casualty (i.e. before Quesada's decision to kill Cap - and, yes, it was ultimately his decision) convinced me Marvel's new direction wasn't for me - or anyone else who values good storytelling.

Balok, the great irony there is that ask almost any FF fan and they will tell you that EXACT issue was the beginning of Fantastic Four getting great again. I believe even our dear Phantom will agree on that, correct me if I'm wrong.

I really liked that issue of the FF, but I've dropped the FF recently due to my general turn-off of the Marvel Universe and the fact that the Black Panther seems to be the most annoyingly smug character ever.
Its a shame, but I'm sure I'll be back to the book eventually. I love the Fantastic Four too much to not read their book for too long.

I hope to return to Marvel when Joe Quesada, Mark Millar, and Brian Bendis leave.

Balok, the great irony there is that ask almost any FF fan and they will tell you that EXACT issue was the beginning of Fantastic Four getting great again. I believe even our dear Phantom will agree on that, correct me if I'm wrong. #542—the “stupid psychohistory issue”—was the first of current writer Dwayne McDuffie’s run on FF. For the moment I am much enjoying his FF, but I disliked that issue, and the psychohistory blather is the #1 reason. I decided not to hold that issue against McDuffie because he was picking up from Straczynski’s sudden departure, and I believe McDuffie was merely fleshing out a plot that had already been planned before his involvement. It wasn’t until #544—the first post- Civil War issue—that I felt comfortable with McDuffie’s writing on the title, which finally felt like it was coming into its own, perhaps even quietly repudiating the sins of recent issues. So far, there’s been only one issue since, but already the post- CW run feels like a return to pre-Straczynski greatness. I’m actually excited about new issues again! I would agree that the current FF and the Civil War-era FF—regardless of whose name is attached to the writing credit—form an apples-and-oranges comparison.

Funny Phantom, I think the exact opposite. I'd say McDuffie's run has gotten progressively worse per issue but is still around an 8/10 at the lowest. Not up to Pre-JMS standards as they were Waid standards but up to better than average FF standard, sure.
