Hey, gang, who has read 1989 Squadron Supreme Graphic Novel: Death Of A Universe?
How´s the story, is it worth looking for?

I don’t get quite the epic feeling from this GN that the Death of a Universe subtitle would suggest…maybe because it’s “only” the Earth-S universe. But I find DoaU enjoyable. It’s written by Mark Gruenwald and penciled by Paul Ryan; the same team also collaborated on the Squadron Supreme limited series, the entire run of D.P. 7, and Quasar. I always find Ryan’s art to be expressive and easy on the eyes. Gruenwald (R.I.P.) was detail-oriented both in plotting and in characterization, and this book is a good sampler of his style. The speech and the thought balloons, I think, really make each character alive and relatable—even villains. Villains are a high point of Death of a Universe; they set aside the old rivalries and enter into a shaky alliance with the Squadron to save reality. As in Emperor Doom, we get a glimpse of the ennui of a world-conqueror who has conquered the world. I believe this GN has been reprinted with standard-size pages. The original edition is in a larger format (8.25″ × 11″, roughly 21cm × 28cm), which I think both enhances the drama and makes the lettering easily readable.

I read those issues off the spinner racks. One of my favorite comic book stories ever told. Of course, I've always been a fan of the Alamo where everybody dies.

I’m assuming you mean the Squadron Supreme limited series; so far as I know, Death of a Universe has never been divvied up, and I don’t see the Alamo comparison applying to D.P. 7 or Quasar (well…maybe certain storylines in D.P. 7, such as the systematic elimination of the main characters near the close of the first year). And I think both objections would apply to Emperor Doom too.
